I’m not surprised. The number of people who criticise barristers for defending people charged with very unpleasant offences shows that the rule is not widely known, which doesn’t surprise me - and unlike the poster above I don’t consider them ‘thick and stupid’.

I don't think he's all that distanced from the rest of the population. There are plenty of people who are happy to castigate barristers for representing 'guilty' people.
