Great news that the Mirror Group have had to pay up and pay Harry's legal costs. It must be great news for the 100 other cases that are still outstanding. It should never have taken this long.

I age, it will be very good if this results in other hacking cases being proven and resolved too.

Hopefully this will get the ball rolling now.

I'm not a fan of Piers Morgan but I did like his response when stopped by a reporter and asked what he thought of Harry's victory in court.

"I agree with Prince Harry that invading the privacy of the Royal Family is reprehensible, and I wish he'd stop doing it!"

Labradora Fri 09-Feb-24 17:47:48

All the (mainly?) celebs got a payout and I don't see why Harry should be any different.
This business is almost on a par with tapping somebody's phone , which we all know, without express judicial sanction ( correct I hope GSM) is illegal.
Does anyone know if Piers Morgan could actually end up in court?
Layman as I am I imagine that he will be protected by "plausible deniability "- absent any smoking guns.
Thoughts anyone?

It didn’t take long to bash Harry. someone will be blaming Meghan soon.

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 09-Feb-24 17:56:07

Sparklefizz I agree with your post. I don't like Piers Morgan but when I heard this on the radio I laughed out loud.

Anniebach Fri 09-Feb-24 18:00:17

I don’t do ‘bashing’ that is done by Harry admirers.

I agree with Piers Morgan.

Megan released a private letter from the King for a friend to include in a book he was writing

Smileless2012 Fri 09-Feb-24 18:00:48

Oh yes that is good Sparklefizzgrin.

What has that got to do with phone hacking?

Yes, that was bound to happen on here.

I do wish people would read what this case is about. Piers Morgan has a huge monkey on his shoulder about the Mirror hacking celebrities and him trying to deflect the heat onto Prince Harry or anybody else is completely inappropriate. I’m not a Harry fan, I just think it’s really important that the media is brought to account for maliciously invading peoples private lives.

eazybee Fri 09-Feb-24 18:12:59

Yes! Brilliant Piers Morgan! grin

And I wasn’t amused by Morgan avoiding taking any responsibility for illegal behaviour at the mirror on his watch

Quite. Some people seem to be taken in by him, which amazes me. To quote my old Yorkshire boss, I wouldn’t pay him in washers.

I have read what this case is about and I have formed my own opinion about the different people involved.
Harry is the prime example of maliciously invading people's private lives, for profit.

Anniebach Fri 09-Feb-24 18:26:03

Some choose to be in denial eazybee

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 09-Feb-24 18:29:04

It was Harry who made the offer to settle. I have my own views on that. What will he do with the money? Would we have known about William’s action, which was settled, had Harry not exposed it?

mae13 Fri 09-Feb-24 18:35:05

Considering Prince Henry/Harry departed the Royal Family and the UK to pursue a much more private life in the US, by embracing the Hollywood celebrity circus, he's seldom been out of the media ever since!
Just how many legal actions has he got in the pipeline at the moment?
This very privileged middle aged man-baby is the embodiment of the vast gulf between The Rich and The Rest Of Us. He can - and does - buy the kind of justice he wants. The rest of us have to make do with what we're given especially as the Legal Aid rug has been pulled out from under us in many instances......

Anniebach Fri 09-Feb-24 18:35:35

We knew 3 years later , Harry betrayed his brother to strengthen his case. William donated the money to charity

This is not about Harry, if you’ve read up on this case you would know that. Piers Morgan and those others involved in hacking have to be brought to book, Harry is just the worm on the end of the line to do that.

But many of us here feel the same but don’t want to get involved with the Harry Hate Fest that is typical here.

Anniebach Fri 09-Feb-24 18:41:21

Critcism of Harry is called’hate fest’ , criticism of lies and betrayal is a ‘hate fest ‘ ,

Glorianny Fri 09-Feb-24 18:51:30

It is so funny that some cannot see what is going on here. The Mirror Group have until now never been brought to court. Mostly because no one was willing to risk the possible financial costs involved in legal action and mae13 is quite right this was done because he is rich. But many other rich people have simply settled out of court.
And on the back of this legal ruling over 100 cases will be entitled to make a similar claim.
