On Sunday via twitter, Kemi Badenoch claimed the former Chair of the Post Office Henry Staunton, had lied in his article to the Sunday Times. He had claimed he was asked by a senior civil servant, to stall the Post Office compensation until after the election. Mr Staunton is a former auditor, well trained in keeping evidence which he claims he has! Badenoch was highly charged in the HoC failing to reply to any questions for facts, merely making unsubstantiated claims about Mr Staunton. If she is right, why not show the evidence ….because it certainly looks like he will!

I suspect that Badenoch has lied over quite a few things.
Embassies never publicly denounce government ministers.
She's been economical with the truth on a few occasions. Remembers when she was campaigning to become Tory leader?
Why put this out on Twitter? Surely there were more mature ways to respond.
“There would be no benefit whatsoever of us delaying compensation. This does not have any significant impact on revenues whatsoever. It would be a mad thing to even suggest, and the compensation scheme which Mr Staunton oversaw has actually been completed, and my understanding is 100% of payments have been made, so clearly no instruction was given.”

She claims that those claims which Mr Staunton oversaw have been completed. She is being disingenuous.

I think you may have been living in a different country? I suggest you check out both male and female Labour MPs who have sent Rosie Duffield MP to Coventry. Angela Eagle for a start.
Women’s rights will never be safe under Labour, SNP, the Greens and the Lib Dems. I will not be voting Tory so am politically homeless.
I never said that Badenoch, Patel or Braverman were leadership material but I can’t help liking the fact that Badenoch at least isn’t afraid to stand up for women’s rights - unlike the rest of the shower at Westminster and Edinburgh.
You really are having a laugh! Badenoch couldn't give two hoots about women's rights.

Especially when she has always shunned social media because she claims it's full of misinformation.
She is pretty much the only one who has met with LGB Alliance, and some womens groups in relation to this issue.
To be fair Rosie Duffield has been consistently outspoken on the issue in the face of considerable unpleasantness.
And don't forget the self-identifying cat, which triggered an Ofsted inspection!
Oh and Joanna Cherry, she has been speaking out for a long time.

That's part of her job!! She's Equalities Minister.
The point is that she lied about having met trans groups. She should have met groups on both sides and she knows she should have, but she hasn't, so she lied about it.
If she's the best who can support your cause, you're on to a loser.
I have no concerns about which side I am on Growstuff.
The side where men are placed in prisons with vulnerable women is not one I want to be on.
I also am incredibly bored with talk of sides. It's not in any way helpful.
If Cameron for example said the world was round I would agree with him.
And am aware I have just used the word side myself

This isn't about YOU and your side.
Badenoch is Equalities Minister. She has a duty to be somewhat less partisan than you are.
The fact is that she lied - or maybe that doesn't bother you, if somebody supports your cause.
Yes that's right Growstuff, you have rumbled me.
I don’t think all posters get ironic comments Galaxy 😁
growstuff why be so shrill about this matter?
The truth is this isn’t something we can say for definite, that either Badenoch or Staunton is lying, it could well be the case that perhaps he is by blaming a senior civil servant, in which case there should be evidence, and that Badenoch thinks he’s lying since she hasn’t seen any evidence and senior civil servants deny it.
Guess it will all come out in the wash as my Nan used to say.
It's possible to hold a number of thoughts in your head at one time
So I can think I am really glad that Badenoch talked to the LGB alliance, etc and think ooh she is not being truthful about that.
In the same way I can think the fact that Lisa Nandy said male rapists should be placed in female prisons is obscene and at the same time think Labour will be the party I vote for.
Galaxy - you appear to have maintained the ability to reflect and consider. Your comment about Lisa Nandy and your voting intentions is music to my ears.
This polarised side taking is tedious. I don’t want male sex offenders anywhere near me or any women, especially the very vulnerable women in prisons. That doesn’t mean I’m a fan of Badenoch or that I;ll stamp my feet and refuse to vote (Labour)
To be honest, my first instinct was to believe Staunton because I have a problem believing anything this govt say. This is the damage done by Johnson and his constant lies. I say this with no faith in anything the Post Office say either. What a bloody mess.
Doesnt mean I wont moan about them on occasion though Iam64, but that's always been part of being in the labour party
.
For sure! Our candidate is a neighbour, I like her as a neighbour, young mum, husband local head teacher. She’s got interesting mixed heritage (is that an acceptable term) but - she supports Starmer and I grumble to friends that our leftie activists really wanted the momentum candidate
The key thing is we all have much more in common than divides us. When ‘some people’ say they don’t know what Labour stands for - I think WHY we know
If a contemporaneous note was emailed at the time to colleagues that would seem to give it a 'not later than' time stamp. It is interesting that Sunak at PMQs avoided repeating Badenoch's account. More to come, I think.
And it seems yo be tied in with the Investments now - so that's more mess.

More to come for sure, the government has been dragging its heels for many years and Stauntons claim rings true, there will be heads to roll over this. It’s clear that the Post Office finances were so bad that there was no prospect of a Horizon compensation and the government were trying to push it forward until after the election.
Totally agree - childish bickering - pure delaying tactics! Total disgrace - this government is really at its lowest - time for GE
