Terribly sad times!

Oh. I hadn't noticed the UK sponsorship option GrannyGravy13...
The problem though is if true, this means only those who can afford to financially sponsor can help - but still better than totally closing the door.

^The Government has extended the visas of those already here by 18 months^ - but they can't bring people here to safety anymore as I understand it (mothers, grandparents etc).

I have just had a very quick look, and it seems that Ukrainian refugees already here can no longer get family members to join them unless they have a sponsor who is a U.K. citizen.

Can anyone else confirm/deny I have understood this correctly.

The Government has extended the visas of those already here by 18 months, it was announced a few days ago on BBC1 news.

I thought that the govt had extended the period for visas for Ukranians for a further 18 months. Perhaps they just meant those already here.

I loath this govt.- we as a country ought to be able to help the Ukrainians to a safe place if they wanted to come here. But the state of the country and the lack of housing for native Brits has caused some people to forget their humanity.

I know that here in Scotland those already here have been granted permission to stay for another 18 months. Haven't heard about new incomers though, although we are helping Afghanistans get settled here.

The scheme available to Ukrainian’s with one family member already in UK, closed at 15h 19 Feb. No further grandparents, children, siblings or other family members will be able to seek refuge in the UK.. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Ukrainian/Russian war is still resulting in massive displacement of Ukrainians? Well done, UK government. Considerate as always!
