Prince Harry loses his appeal

It’s just been announced, Prince Harry has lost his appeal to have armed security provided when he is in Britain.
I’m not surprised.

I am glad he was refused it. Why should we taxpayers pay for his security when he is a multi millionaire, he does nothing for anyone but expects a handout. He should pay for it himself like all the so called celebrities have to do.

The poor boy has to earn his own living now, he has to make the best of the few resources he has.

Excellent!
We’re back to some people.🤣🤣🤣

Is that a song or another Larkin poem?

Oh yes, it's Cliff! Similar sentiments to the Larking poem though grin

Oh OK I thought it was obvious, but if you have to have it spelled out for you-"some people can't" = Charles can't.
I see the actual point has once again got lost in trying to pick holes in my post.
William may be OK (possibly better protected by the RF PR machine). He may not.
One brother obviously having problems does not mean the other is fine.

I wouldn’t know about your actual point Glorianny.
Not being able or willing to imply that I know anything about the RF, as you and your herd seem to do.

Harry was 13 and in boarding school when his mother was
photographed snuggling up to Fayed

Yes and "They fuck you up, your mum and dad"
But she's dead so unable to correct or try to compensate for any mistakes she made.
And Fayed wasn't involved in the breakdown of the marriage.

And Fayed wasn't involved in the breakdown of the marriage.
Another piece of insider knowledge?
I don’t know how far back and with whom Diana’s affairs were exposed.

Do marriages break down only if a third person is involved

No, but it doesn't help. Its especially tough for children who have then to accept someone their mother despised.

No, Fayed was Number 7.

Not counting Charles, of course.

I think Hewitt was number 1, wasn't he?
Useless piece of information alert ..... when we moved to a village on the Exe, the estate agent showed us round a house that was almost next door to Hewitt's mother's cottage and riding school. He told us that apparently the mother was always around when Diana visited. The comment about there were three in the marriage made me laugh later - three in the affair too!
We ended up living in the next village. The affair is still occasionally alluded to in passing.

you are right; useless! no need for!

Cheers lemsip!
No need for half the thread here really then!
Nor many of the comments on the whole of GN really! grin

I am Team Diana here and I don't apologise for that. Yes, she had affairs but I don't think she would have done if she had felt loved and supported in her marriage. She had every right to expect that and her health suffered.

When I see my granddaughter at age 19 and think of what Diana had to cope with at that age .....

Joseann Sun 03-Mar-24 09:11:38

Yes Sparklefizz, I do hope Diana had some proper happy times, somehow, somewhere. Or what was the point? Did real contentment elude her, and has that feeling been passed on to Harry?

Anniebach Sun 03-Mar-24 09:23:27

Speaking of Diana’s affairs brings criticism from her fans, that she spoke of them herself, no matter,

Never been any proof of Camilla yet all is accepted

Isn't Camilla herself the proof? A lot of kings have had mistresses, few of them made one queen. I mean there is Henry V111, but he went a bit too far.

There is no right or wrong about a divorced person having affairs and relationships once the marriage is ended, but they can and do cause distress to their children, particularly younger ones and particularly when they are conducted publicly.
There was much speculation about Charles and Camilla but little evidence of their relationship following the divorce.

Diana knew she was in the public eye and she foolishly played up to the paparazzi during that last holiday and it ended in tragedy.

Anniebach Sun 03-Mar-24 10:19:36

What evidence of their relationship before the divorce?

eazybee Sun 03-Mar-24 10:35:02

I don't know; much speculation I think, accusations from Diana and an admittance from Charles, but I do not recall photographs of them together during their marriages pre-divorce. (Charles and Camilla that is.)

Sparklefizz Sun 03-Mar-24 10:35:42

What evidence of their relationship before the divorce?

How about this Annie?

Also known as “Tampongate”, a six-minute telephone call between Charles and Camilla was released by The Sunday Mirror in January 1993. The call reportedly took place in 1989, when both parties were married to other people

Yes, I think it did. She was very needy, both of true love and attention, probably as a result of her upbringing and she seems to have passed that trait on to Harry.
I hope he's found his true love but it seems he hasn't overcome the need for attention.

I'm not Team Anyone but this is all history in the making.

Anniebach Sun 03-Mar-24 10:43:18

Yes Sparklefizz reportedly 1989, Squidgygate pre 1990 Diana
feared she was pregnant.

But this thread is ostensibly about Harry, and it is time he grew up and made the most of the very comfortable, if pointless, life he has chosen for himself, rather than wasting his and other people's time and money on pursuing useless vendettas against the press and the palace and his family.
