It’s just been announced, Prince Harry has lost his appeal to have armed security provided when he is in Britain.
I’m not surprised.

It didn't take much time for M's genuine feelings regarding H's family to emerge did it.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound abrupt but I do know a few people who lost a parent as a child, sometimes very suddenly. They do not seem to carry anger or wallow in their grief.

I can only speak from my own personal experience which is obviously quite limited.

^I don't know enough about how other members of the RF are assessed to know really.^

Best find out.

"Working" seems to be a significant word.

"Working" seems to be the term applied in giving out information to the public. However Harry when working was given a higher level of security investigation than other royals (working or not). When he left he was downgraded. His security investigation is now only generic. I have no doubt that others like William and Charles still have higher levels.
His higher level was to do with his position in the RF and his military service.

I don't think it is just to do with his mother. The death must have been traumatic, but the introduction of the woman his mother held responsible for her marriage breakdown into his life must have made it more difficult.
He's a very obvious and extreme example of the Larkin poem "This be the Verse"

Well obviously your family members didn't even have the good manners to put on a show of welcome.

Keep digging!🤣🤣🤣

How do you know they didn’t put on a good show? Putting on a good show doesn’t deceive the more perceptive among us.

Sorry what information ?
The info about his reason for bringing the case is in the papers.
The rest is just an opinion.
I don't think I have ever claimed it was anything else.
I'm entitled to draw my own conclusions I assume and don't have to follow the herd?

Anniebach Thu 29-Feb-24 21:09:08

Such a different Harry in 5 years, all that’s been quoted from his book and his own tv interviews, surely the anger and bitterness we hear didn’t erupt in those years, was it all there for years and he kept it suppressed or hidden ?

Another sly dig there Glorianny , although you do have your own little herd if you insist on using that phrase.
Keep digging.
You’re as entitled to draw your own conclusions and to express that as an opinion as any other poster.
Just you seem to feel that your opinion entitled you to accuse others of things for which you have no proof (and make lengthy lists which show a lack of understanding of the word hate.)

harry was such a happy chappy........then his wife opened a 'can of worms' telling him what a poor boy he was.

Someone or something stirred a hornets nest, the
Jealousy of the size of the bedrooms is so juvenile

Your conclusions do seem rather glorified, though! (Please excuse the pun.)

In many ways he is treated in a similar way, or better to other non-working Royals.

Prince Andrew receives no personal security despite having been 2nd in line to the throne and having had a long history of Military service (longer than Harry's) and serving on the frontline at a time of war.

Harry's status in the Royal Family is not the same as when he was a child when he was 3rd in the Line of Succession. Now he is down to 5th. He is no longer an official representative of the British government. He is no longer a dependent getting an allowance from his father in return for carrying out official engagements. He is an independent man, living in the US, earning his own millions and employing his own security team.

Aniebach In most marriages the partners complement each other, and some times the support they give each other is to the couples advantages and sometimes, even in happy marriages, this can be to the disadvantage of both.

Prince William fell for someone from a home as solid and secure as his was turbulent, to both his and his wife's advantages. Prince Harry fell for someone whose own background was as turbulent as his, to both their disadvantages.

Anniebach Fri 01-Mar-24 10:13:51

Most definitely MOnica so sad and all that bitterness and envy Harry holds ,

RosiesMaw Fri 01-Mar-24 13:11:43

Sadly Prince Harry lost any appeal he might have had many years ago hmm

Andrew and his children had huge amounts of personal security. His daughters had it until they were 21 when the term "working royal" was invented because the security list was growing so long. The amount they cost whilst at university was huge.
Andrew lost his when he was involved with dodgy people traffickers and paedophiles. He still can't go to the US.

If Trump has his way, Harry won’t be allowed to stay in the US because of his alleged-or was it self confessed, affair with drugs.
So if he returns, having cast off the role of working royal, I wonder what he’ll do?
Do you think Meghan would come with him if he was asked to leave?
What would happen to the children if she refused?

Remember when Trump was interviewed before H&M’s wedding, and he was asked about his non invitation, Meghan was not a fan of his.

He was actually quite gracious, said he wasn’t aware of an invitation but wished them well.

He then smiled and said words to the effect “Good luck Harry, think you’ll need it!”.

How right he was!

Harry lives in California which has very liberal laws for drug use where marijuana is legal. He is unlikely to e deported,f he is threatened with it a lengthy court case will folow.

“The Grand Opinion for the Prerogative Concerning the Royal Family", was a law introduced by King George I in 1717 which has not been repealed.
More than three centuries ago, the law was enacted that means the sovereign has full legal custody of their minor grandchildren.

Mollygo Fri 01-Mar-24 18:28:46

Thanks for that Callistemon. The children have dual citizenship, but do you think the US would back UK laws against the rights of the US citizens? I hope it doesn’t come to that but . . .

I think that's one reason they went to the US. Can you imagine having a baby then discovering his grandfather could have rights over him? Particularly if you thought the grandfather had screwed up his son. You'd want to get away wouldn't you?

Anniebach Fri 01-Mar-24 19:40:59

It wasn’t true that his daddy didn’t ride bikes with him and I doubt his daddy chose which bedroom he had
