I hate flag waving and patriotic gesturing. I think most flags are intended to create divisions between countries and certainly do nothing to create harmony.

Well, I'm odd too then, Pantglas2. I'm pleased to see our flag flying and I'm not any of those things listed by you either.
Just proud of my country and fed up with it endlessly being denigrated.
What' s wrong with a bit of pride and patriotism. How about some loyalty instead of endless criticism.
I am not blind to our faults. But I am proud of our virtues.

Sometimes you get a glimpse of a Dystopian future of our country if we give in to this type of anti British claptrap. British Values will have no meaning at all soon. I used to be proud, but it is being knocked out of me by this type of thinking. Very sinister. Ask a Ukranian soldier what their flag means or dont ask people to fight for their country and what values we still hold

What are British values? Intolerance, bigotry, xenophobia, selfishness? I ask because there is far more of that around than openness, kindness and compassion!

We saw her (PR), in a play a few years back, then had a lovely chat in the pub around the corner from the Theatre afterwards.
She was so easy to talk to. She didn't make us feel we were taking up her valuable time.
