Yes sure dad and kids in one house and mum with bro in another
Oh, brilliant, why didn't I think of doing that?
Well, I did think of it but bro had more children than me.
Out of the frying pan etc.
Angela Rayner is now to be investigated for breaking electoral law. It seems she has said that she married, and then lived in her ex council house for the next four years, while her husband lived in his nearby ex council house with her brother. Neighbours at her address said that her brother lived in her house alone, and that he referred to her as his landlady. This issue seems to be getting bigger by the day - surely electoral rolls show where people are registered to vote, and this should clarify the matter.

I agree, Maybee. Stewart would make an excellent Foreign Secretary. His frustration with David Cameron over foreign affairs came across loud and clear in Politics on the Edge.
Campbell’s own struggles with his mental health will have given him an understanding of what Rayner’s mother has been through. Rayner’s explanation of the family dynamics was new to me and how those experiences were starting to manifest in how she behaved towards her own son until she received support from SureStart.
Another thing that struck me was how important her paternal gran was in helping to care for her son so that she could go to work - a job which has indirectly (or is it directly?) lead to where she is now. I loved the story of her being invited to be a delegate at the TUC in conference in Bournemouth.
As I listened to her, found myself wondering what and where she would be now had she had a different start in life. Some form of advocacy, I imagine.
Thanks again for flagging that up.

^It's a problem caused by people who fall way below those standards^
That's what I said.
I actually think it could make people respect her more. Nobody - but nobody - is perfect.
You really have misunderstood my post.
But, as you said, ^Nobody - but nobody - is perfect^
No, it's not quite what you said. The people who throw stones often have moral values way below the person they're throwing stones at (even if that person has pontificated in the past). I guess they do it to deflect from their own shortcomings.
In this case, Ashcroft was given a seat in the House of Lords, claiming he was going to make the UK his usual residence. Ten years later, he hadn't and was still living in Belize, when he was forced to give up his seat in the House of Lords.
He didn't just live in the same town/country and pay the same income tax and council tax. He actually avoided tax as a result of his place of abode.

You might mock. However, my former husband did think of something very similar (and more) and got away with paying Capital Gains Tax on a house he owned before he married his second wife. The children allegedly lived with him until they became adults and lived in his wife's flat (in London - they didn't), so that he could claim single occupancy council tax. His wife, allegedly, still lived in the London flat (she didn't). Not only that, but at the time he owned about ten properties and was - er - "flexible" about where he lived before he sold the rental properties, so that he could avoid CGT. Meanwhile, (and this was before Brexit), he actually spent most of his time abroad.
Didn’t you report him to HMRC?

Remind me - hasn’t Rayner thrown a few stones?
Since I have been asked and have now watched the video, here’s what I think.
AR came over much better than I expected but that was mainly due to the way AC steered the majority of questions back to her mother and her dysfunctional upbringing. Once she was asked about her father and all she said was he didn’t work and drove around in his car using the CB radio.
AC WANTED us to feel sorry for her because of caring for her mother from a young age but he didn’t want to ask about how the father could run a car whilst not working, why he wasn’t working, whether he could read etc.
To be honest I think her poor background has been done to death now and she should move on. We know all there is to know and she has come out the other side and all credit to her.
Thinking about it, they must have had more money than my parents who both worked because we could not afford a car and we certainly could not have gone to France, even with Sun coupons! My Dad passed away never having held a passport and my Mum only got one when she was 85.
A couple of times AC made himself look like a clapping sea lion and bouncing in his chair when she made remarks about the Conservatives. Very childish.
So really we didn’t learn anything that has already been said about her background. I will say she certainly has passion and drive and impressed me on that front. She was very honest about starting union work not knowing a thing and I liked that.
She did say she would end zero hours contracts - did she forget it was Labour who brought those in?
When asked how she would like to be remembered I had to stifle a chuckle when she said “council houses” bearing in mind the interview was 3 months ago before the current hooha. She may yet live to regret those words. 😉
I rather liked Rory Stewart but he is still hurt that he never got to be PM so he was careful what he said.
Apart from tge police investigation I am anazed she actually had a Council house when she was so young and so few children.
I don’t think Rory is still hurting over not becoming party leader. He is mainly hurting because of what he has seen his party turn into ( as have Ken Clark, Anna Soubry etc). Thanks for listening to it though; appreciate that. I must admit that I have an awful lot of catching up to do with the Leading interviews; so many podcasts, so little time!

No problem. It was lengthy wasn’t it?
Casdon
You are I presume being ironic Primrose53, as one of the greatest proponents on Gransnet of GB News. Perhaps an interview with Nigel Farage would have been more your cup of tea? Actually, I’d like to see that too.
Casdon do keep up!
Haven’t been on there for months.
You have a real knack for making anything you write sound like an insult.
quite a few peopel have mastered the art of the insult thats not an insult. Sometimes they include a little smiley or a flag.

growstuff if you have read my posts on this and other threads you will know I have no time for Ashcroft and you are telling me things I know (and I probably know more than you too).
Typical dirt digging.
I fully support her.
I’m watching ch4 news on Trump. Now there we have a web of four complex criminal trials. Puts Angela in the shade
To think he's trying to be POTUS...
I’d like politicians that aren’t stupid enough to think that their misdemeanours won’t surface. Not saying that Angela Raynor is guilty of a misdemeanour!
Said on the news last night that AR is being investigated for several financial matters now.
Investigated by whom ?
The police.
Thank you GSM
What are the new ones
Just looked on line, some reports say ‘suggest more investigations will take place’
‘Financial matters’ apparently Wyllow.
