Brussels police ordered to attend a right wing conference attended by Braverman and Farage

Orban is also in attendance.

The police are allowing no one else to enter the premises.

Listening to Farage there is a worrying paper-thin line between his rhetoric and 1930s propaganda.

No wonder the authorities are worried.

I haven’t a clue what you’re all talking about. I suppose it’s my own fault for being on holiday. Nothing about whatever it is on BBC World News whilst I was watching.

I am not sure how many times it needs to be shown that when freedom of speech is threatened those impacted the most are minorities and the vulnerable in our society.
What fools they are.

Wyllow3 Tue 16-Apr-24 23:31:56

In general - freedom to speak important,

But imo Braverman, as a government minister should never decide to share a platform with Orban who is an open racist anti-semetic leader (believes in "purity of race" etc and is hostile to women

I wouldn’t call Rishi Sunak as a right winger. More trying to please everyone, pleasing no one in the process. What we in Australia need is a good strong leader with principles who doesn’t try to please all the minorities at the expense of the majority. Our recent riots by extreme ‘religious’ (huh) groups should be jumped on and treated severely but they are too afraid of being seen as not ‘woke’

The Mayor is not without far right views. Neither is his deputy who was once a member of the GreyWolves ( a very scary extreme far right group)

Farage isn’t a politician, he’s a free agent so he can do whatever, so long as it’s lawful.

Casdon, that made me laugh - because at first glance I read the final word as awful. 😁

If the Mayor of Brussels hadn't risen to the bait and sent in the police no-one would have paid attention to this bunch of right wing ranters.

Sunak is far more right wing than people realise.

I agree he has given them publicity.

MayBee70 Wed 17-Apr-24 10:33:07

Maybe Hitlers party would never had risen to power if more people had realised what their long term aims were?

Wyllow3 Wed 17-Apr-24 10:34:49

I agree. The picture/short videos in the Mail shows Farage clearly delighted to have a chance to say how dreadful it all was etc etc, he practically danced across the platform in the limelight.

Better to let them go ahead but monitor for any illegal (ie hate speech)

But the people the NatCons are demonising are minorities and the vulnerable.

Namsnanny Wed 17-Apr-24 10:59:54

Who extended the boundries of their power to shut someone who expressed views they didn't like?

Who used the state to make this happen?

They're the real demons here.

MayBee70 Wed 17-Apr-24 11:33:11

If only people would realise how devious Farage is. He terrifies as much as disgusts me.

Wyllow3 Wed 17-Apr-24 12:38:22

Attention seeking with little substance.

"Does Farage get an EU pension?
The Brexit divorce bill includes pensions for UK MEPs. Nigel Farage will receive £73,000 a year pension, free private healthcare for his whole family for life plus a £157,000 golden handshake. He doesn't want the UK to pay the EU, but appears to be happy for the EU to pay him."

Also: "Farage has continued to have fees paid to him via a limited company, Thorn in the Side Ltd." (Farrage's media company

The Mayor has his own agenda, he supports Tehran, the mayor of such is a mate. So ok to entertain leaders from a terrorist funding country . Him and his coppers acted like the Gestapo in 1930 Germany.

This is a disgrace, Nigel Farage is NOT far right, they just want people to believe he is - as usual, if views don't fit the narrative you get banned - this is against Democracy and another attack on free speech. There is nothing to fear from Nigel, he believes in free speech and our country having it's own rules.

Seems like there’s a few on here with much in common with the mayor of Brussels!

Maybe Mt61 is one of those people who get confused between left and right. 😁
