😱

Leave paddyanne alone. She will post. Or not. It’s up to her.
All this mentioning of her is goady in my opinion.

M0nica Sun 26-May-24 18:44:39

I am still waiting for paddyannes response. So unlike her not to post when the subject is Scottish poitics.

I think Bonnybanko made a general observation and, looking at the state of the world, she has a point!

As DH said of many politicians "Where do they find them?"

It’s politics, it attracts them!🧐

I expect Elegran doesn’t live anywhere near Scotland or take much interest in Scottish politics so didn’t know that Peter Murrell wasn’t the leader of the SNP.Not sure my Mum knows tbh about anything remotely Scottish.
Am a bit puzzled by accusations of bullying as can’t see anything like that.
I was shocked by the swift departure of Nicola Sturgeon and then the arrests and accusations of embezzlement but will wait to see what transpires.

Elegran Sun 26-May-24 18:16:16

No, I have not elected myself chairperson, that is a thankless task above my paygrade which I do not aspire to. I was defending a vulnerable poster who was being bullied, and then defending myself against nitpicking. I shall do both again, should it become necessary.

Ah, you know your place! I’ll make the tea.

I think Elegran has assumed the role of chairperson.

I'm away to thrash out the minutes

Just because someone is not an elected politician does not mean they are not involved in politics, does it?

I'm not denying any political involvement. I'm correcting the statements that he is/was an elected representative, (he was appointed CEO) and that he is/was the leader of the SNP (he never has been).
The thread was reignited for spurious enough reason without folk adding to the misinformation already quoted

OK, Chief Executive - but that is STILL a very influential position, and has a great deal to do with politics and politicians, and it is quite irrelevant to the rubbishing of Bonnybanko's actual innocent post re current political failings, which is where the thread became diverted.

Now can everyone stop picking at off-topic morsels and return to discussing the coming election?

Correcting an error is not "rubbishing a post"

Just realised the topic of the thread is Peter Murrell, not the election.

Sorry blush

At the current rate of those leaving politics, they are going to have to find a lot more candidates.

That’s not the leader though. The leader was his wife.

I know that GSM

We couldn't fail to miss her! She was never off the telly

How come Mark Drakeford never got as much airtime?

Peter Murrell was Chief Executive of the SNP from 1999 until 2023 when he stood down.

Parsley3 Sun 26-May-24 11:28:26

OldFrill 👍

OldFrill Sun 26-May-24 11:22:58

I'm not surprised paddyanne doesn't comment when folk obviously don't have a clue what the facts are, spout nonsense, and demean those that bother correcting it.

OldFrill Sun 26-May-24 11:21:05

Elegran

Peter Murrell is/was in a very prominent position in public political circles, presumably chosen as their leader by the SNP party.

Splittng hairs over whether he gained that position in a general or local election or by the choice of party members is almost as petty as GSM up on her cuddy and patronisingly claiming that a poster's simple statement about the current veniality of politicians is incomprehensible.

Peter Murrell was not leader of the SNP.

I think facts are more pertinent than lies so l will continue to correct when necessary.

Aveline Sun 26-May-24 10:00:54

I suspect that she's busy out trying to fundraise for the SNPs election campaign.

I am surprised that paddyanne has not yet posted on this thread to explain that we completely misunderstand the issue and it is all the fault of the English that Peter Murrell has been so unfairly charged!

Spontaneous human combustion?

GrannyGravy13

He was Chief Executive of the SNP and husband of Scotland’s First Minister OldFrill

Totally embedded in Scottish politics.

I don't really see your need for your comment. He was not an elected representative which was the error I was correcting.

Perhaps I should ask for your approval before I post on GN…
