😱

Elegran Sun 26-May-24 08:29:31

Peter Murrell is/was in a very prominent position in public political circles, presumably chosen as their leader by the SNP party.

Splittng hairs over whether he gained that position in a general or local election or by the choice of party members is almost as petty as GSM up on her cuddy and patronisingly claiming that a poster's simple statement about the current veniality of politicians is incomprehensible.

I am surprised that paddyanne has not yet posted on this thread to explain that we completely misunderstand the issue and it is all the fault of the English that Peter Murrell has been so unfairly charged!

There's been a big match on 😉

He was Chief Executive of the SNP and husband of Scotland’s First Minister OldFrill

Totally embedded in Scottish politics.

I don't really see your need for your comment. He was not an elected representative which was the error I was correcting.

It was more an opinion on politicians than on politics or policies.

Granniesunite Sat 25-May-24 19:46:39

No one suggested you did.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 25-May-24 19:43:58

Did I suggest she shouldn’t express an opinion? No.

Granniesunite Sat 25-May-24 19:39:06

Well she is now!

O my gosh whose permission does she need to do express her opinion on an open forum. I do hope she has the temerity to have another go!

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 25-May-24 19:31:10

I have never known her to express an opinion on politics outside Scotland.

Granniesunite Sat 25-May-24 19:27:49

That doesn’t exclude her having opinions on the state of politics world wide. Germanshepersmum

The SNP have been in power in Scotland for a long time as have the Conservatives in Westminster but that doesn’t exclude a voter from any party having an opinion on world affairs.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 25-May-24 19:13:16

I believe she is a staunch SNP supporter.

Granniesunite Sat 25-May-24 18:59:10

Bonnybanko commented on the state of politics world wide. That’s ok as discussions can meander in real life.
She’s not far wrong!

Bonnybanko

Politics are going daft, for goodness sake what’s the world coming to not only the uk but the world at large

^" Germanshepherdsmum Sat 25-May-24 15:14:02
What’s that supposed to mean?^

I took it to mean that Bonnybanko is as disgusted as the rest of us at the lack of honour among the thieves elected representatives both in our UK country(ies) and around the world generally, GSM .

Peter Murrell was not an elected representative

Thanks for clarifying * Granny Gravy*

Apologies, the police sent their report to the prosecutors on 23/05/2024.

Like someone posted upthread he was charged on 18/04/2024.

GrannyGravy13

The BBC and other news outlets are reporting that he was charged on Thursday (23/05/24) with embezzlement.

I took this post to mean this was today’s news.

It hasn’t been

Sky, the Evening Standard and no doubt other media in England also carried it.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 25-May-24 16:42:31

I watch the news every day but hadn’t heard about it.

Aveline Sat 25-May-24 16:40:40

I don't think it's been kept particularly quiet south of the border. I saw it on main BBC news

Granniesunite Sat 25-May-24 16:03:29

Im now wondering why it’s been kept quiet south of the border ..

Granniesunite Sat 25-May-24 16:02:33

On the contrary. it’s all over the media in Scotland.

As it should be. Ifa wrong has been done.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 25-May-24 15:59:05

Granniesunite Sat 25-May-24 15:55:26

He was rearrested and charged last month with embezzlement. Not on Thursday.

A report was sent to the PF on Thursdayof last week .

They will now decide if there is enough evidence to prosecute him.

Operation Branchform has been ongoing since July 2021.
