😱

Quite a large one.

Auditors don’t resign from auditing the accounts of high profile clients without good reason,

eazybee Sat 20-Apr-24 17:23:39

I thought the motor home, unused I believe, was bought out of the £600,000 but apparently not. Just under £100,000 remains, £500,000 has vanished and you believe it to be an accounting error?

Allsorts Sat 20-Apr-24 17:13:32

Oh dear! What is it about that office that attracts such people

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 20-Apr-24 16:18:07

Yes. I have been wondering. I don’t think she was arrested was she? Just interviewed under caution. But as head of the party and wife of Murrell, if he is guilty of any wrongdoing I can’t see how she would not have had reason to suspect him. She’s nobody’s fool. The resignation of the auditors would also have made the alarm bells ring very loudly.

Aveline Sat 20-Apr-24 16:07:15

The big question is, will Nicola be charged next? She signed off the books.

If it’s a witch hunt he’ll be ducked in the river and if he sinks he’ll be declared innocent.

maddyone Sat 20-Apr-24 14:10:59

A witch hunt? Really? There must be some evidence I think.
If it’s a witch hunt he’ll be found innocent and so we’ll have to wait for the trial to see.

Callistemon21 Sat 20-Apr-24 14:05:29

So, if this is a witch hunt, Granny23, why is it that Police Scotland are conducting the investigations and are the ones to charge Murrell?
It's not a dreaded English police force encroaching on Scottish soil and doing this.

Nor is Scottish Police answerable to Westminster.

"Police Scotland is the single service responsible for policing in Scotland. It is held to account by the Scottish Police Authority (SPA) which is accountable to Scottish Ministers and the Scottish Parliament."

OOPs the picture didn't load. Its a very ordinary detached house ona wee estate outside of Glasgow...very similar to my own home .
Enjoy the rest of your day .

Of course, during her time in office the couple also had use of a grace and favour Georgian mansion in Edinburgh's New Town and we know they co-own a luxury holiday home in Portugal

They're just an ordinary wee couple.

They might have had your words 'a very ordinary detached house on a wee estate outside of Glasgow' but wasn't there a top of the range luxury Motorhome which cost over £100,000.

No smoke without fire in my opinion.

We have discussed the expensive Motor Home umpteen times on Gransnet. It was bought from Party Funds - not Government funds to serve as a battle bus during campaigns and as an investment, given the cost of hiring such vehicles when needed, then discreetly parked at a trusted relative's house so avoiding expensive secure parking charges and the possibility of an anti-Independence person tampering with it. I have known both Nichola and Peter personally for nigh on 50 years and would trust either of them 100 with my money or mylife. I could accept an accounting error (we all make mistakes) but as to deliberate Fraud = Unbelievable. This is a witch hunt.

I'd love to. I adored my time down under

Well I’d better keep my gob shut about just about everything. Not allowed to say I don’t like someone because I don’t actually live there. Better not say I don’t like Biden, Trump, Sunak. that aggressive Scottish woman - all lovely of course.

I promise to keep quiet about matters Australian.

Except the wine, which we can buy here in the UK!

Aveline

You're OK nanna8. It's only in Scotland that we aren't allowed to say anything that anyone else might find upsetting. šŸ˜‘

Thanks, feel much better now (Really) šŸ‘Come and live here, it’s warmer and we do a good red wine šŸ˜€

Of course it is! 🤣

Aveline Sat 20-Apr-24 13:19:21

Of course. It's all Westminster's fault šŸ˜‚

My one and only post about this!

This is a bloke who loaned the SNP Ā£100k when they needed it and his wife hadn’t taken a wage rise since 2008. This is the house they live in.
Is this embezzlement likely?

Or can we remember the brouhaha around Alex Salmond who I said was innocent from the start and who walked free from a court of law after a jury trial>
Can we also remember that the Scottish government COULD have dealt with Alex inhouse...you know how the westminster government deals with sex offenders and criminals..but decided that we wouldn't go down that road .
Its horrific the way the Murrells have been treated by the media, the "blue tent" in their garden, the ordinary items removed from their home for heavens sake A KETTLE and a pile of what looked like empty boxes ! All done in front of crowds of press and anti SNP eegits.
Then remember how shit scared of losing Scotland WM is ...how many tens of billions of licenses Sunak sold for oil in SCOTTISH waters recently over £300 BILLION OVER THE YEARS .the billions of pound worth of BONDED whisky sitting in warehouses...far more than th gold in English BONDED facilities .
There you have a wee snippet of the WHY they want to cause this mess...and why the police action took so long....
IF Peter Murrell is guilty of anything then its stupidity for leaving himself open to WM 's machinations.
Independence is still on the cards ,its not about any one man or woman its our right to have control of our own country

maddyone Sat 20-Apr-24 09:01:59

Not a single post was about anything other than the SNP and the current situation!

I just don’t like gratuitous pops at anybody, that’s all. I’ll shut up now.

Really? How about Boris Johnson?
He was accused of eating cake and going to a party, but embezzlement?

Grammaretto Sat 20-Apr-24 08:49:56

The original post here was a statement of fact and an emoji representing horror.

I think it's healthy for posts to veer along their path as in a conversation.
I don't like it when the self appointed forum police dive in and try to remove posts they don't agree with.

I do of course, I just thought it was a strange thing to introduce to a thread about somebody else, when the state of the UK government leadership is as it is and has been. After all, with Murrell, Yousaf did what we would expect any leader to do?

This happens on many political threads. Usually, not always, to distract from the original post. So nothing new.

Grammaretto Sat 20-Apr-24 08:19:05

They are almost all as bad as eachother in my opinion.

Westminster tories are currently in the lead but sleaze and dishonesty seem to permeate downwards, sideways as well as left and right.
