Not very PC is she? Heck.

They've all been like that for a long time.
Sneering and jeering, and showing off their ability to use long words.

Like a bunch of big fat spoilt children.

Half cut most of them or sniffing something.

I've just watched it and it horrifies me that Angela Raynor could be representing our country on the world stage as Deputy Prime Minister if Labour gets elected. Shocking.

As compared to the delightful Lee Anderson?

Whataboutery, again.

I think it proves that you can take the woman out of the gutter but it takes a hell of a lot of work to take the gutter out of the woman in this case.

What gutter ?

Anyway...
Back to arguing....

I've forgotten my point, or even if I had one, now.

😀 MissA you are like a breath of fresh air.

Nasty comment.

Joking about someone's height or physical appearance is unacceptable.

Didn’t we discuss Angela Rayner’s lack of social skills last week?
As I said then, it’s not just the offensive things she says but the spiteful, sneering ways she attacks people.

It has always been the case that politicians from all parties try to have a dig at each other and often the offended party ends up with a smile on their face but never in AR’s case as she is deadly serious.

As I said last week you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. 😉

MissAdventure Wed 24-Apr-24 16:44:05

Is it because she says them with a northern accent?

True though. 😉

Gutter ? being a carer whilst still a child, being‘unmarried mother’ this means sex before marriage đŸ˜±

In my opinion her remarks were not, clever, funny or appropriate.

If one of my AC or GC were to speak about someone like that, this Mum/Gran would have something to say to them.

I didn’t see it, only just found out from this thread, as I’ve just returned from the hairdresser.
If she’s to be in government soon, she needs some lessons in acceptable behaviour in my opinion.

This! A.R . should learn what is and what is not appropriate behaviour!! She gets on my nerves at the best of times!

I know, but it's fun.

The gutter? Wow.

So we shouldn’t have politicians who’ve been dealt a very poor hand in life but have managed to pull themselves up by sheer hard work and determination? They seem the best sort to me.

I admire her, for what it’s worth. I heard a talk she gave at our local literature festival last year and she got a huge ovation (and no, I don’t think we were all raving lefties). She came over as sincere, passionate, intelligent and determined to improve the lot of the poorest in society - and she’s certainly been there, done that.

I’d never condone picking on people’s physical appearances - she needs to work on that. Though I do have a pint-sized DH and a pint-sized DD and it made them laugh. Believe me, they’ve heard a lot worse. smile

Dennis Healey described John Prescott as having a the face of a man who clubs baby seals.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 24-Apr-24 16:58:03

I agree with what you say Primrose.

I recall that when we recently discussed AR a comparison was made with Alan Johnson, who had had a terrible childhood but made himself into a good politician who could talk to anyone. A thoroughly decent and honourable man. She should take a leaf from his book. When she gets going the gutter is still very much in evidence.

She has her place, but it’s not on the world stage.

How about having a face that belongs on a baby seal clubber?
wink

Boz Wed 24-Apr-24 17:04:44

The trouble with this kind of pathetic insult is that it ruined the argument she was putting against no-fault evictions. The silly remark killed her cause in parliament to-day.

But half of us didn't hear her say it, we just read it on here, so we wouldn't know about the accent? WHAT she said is is not appropriate.
I don't dislike her, but I dislike derogatory comments about anyone's physical appearance.
I might be wrong, but I think in France there is a fine if politicians do this.
