Islamophobic, a term used by others to prevent any valid criticism of Islam.A phobia is fear of, not a hatred of.

So what the supporters of Netanyahu are saying is that because they consider Israel a democratic state, and he is Jewish, he should be permitted to break International law without facing the consequences. That is so ridiculous. The country doesn't matter, the religion doesn't matter, International law and therefore International justice works on a set of agreed principles and anyone who breaks those must be brought to justice. He would receive a fair trial, not be imprisoned or executed without one.

All their resources have been plowed into that goal with no planning for a positive future for their people. On the other hand you have a forward thinking, proud, democratic western country trying to defend its people, get its hostages back and survive. How you can equate the two beggars belief. To me.

Given what happened to over a thousand innocent Israelis last October you can’t blame any less than kind actions directed against hamas fighters who were injured and ended up in military hospitals!

That is exactly why there are rules of war Oreo because people can behave in an inhumane way and justify it just like you have just done. Fortunately civilised governments know that this is not acceptable, hence they sign up to agreements with the ICJ and ICC.

Nurses and doctors declined to look after shot hamas terrorists in the days after the October massacre so a field hospital was set up for them to stay in.In my view acceptable after what hamas carried out, atrocities is the word, they were not soldiers engaging with other soldiers as in the usual way of wars.Had they been, then tho understandable, medics would have treated them even if reluctantly.
What those beasts did to families entirely unprovoked on that day deserves far rougher treatment than they got!

I think in this instance they are too near the epicentre to be completely impartial.

Well, if people believe that a Muslim is incapable of being impartial, then I guess they must also believe the same of any other faith/religion. Might make our courts slow down even more if we have to find a Jewish, Christian, Mormon, Hindu etc etc to ensure impartiality and fairness. But Urmstongran is it just Muslims you can't trust to be fair and impartial?

Well the word “Islamophobia” is too blunt. It fails, in principle, to distinguish between hating Muslims and criticising Islamic doctrine.

Unlike other words that have drifted from their original meaning, away from polite liberal circles and among the most vulnerable of minorities within our minority communities, it is still used regularly and interchangeably to mean either or both.

Islamists know this. They deployed this ambiguity in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo massacre. And they continue to do so after New Zealand. They seek nothing but an opportunity to reintroduce a blasphemy taboo through the backdoor. In allowing them this, we betray ex-Muslims, liberal Muslim reformers and those from minority sects. That latter category even suffered a murder on our streets in Glasgow for being “anti-Islam”.

This is not semantics. The dead do not have the luxury to indulge linguistic laziness. And there are alternatives.

The terms “Anti-Muslim hate” or “Muslimphobia” are more precise, and do the job nicely to address a very real and rising problem.

People haven't hesitated (including me) to use the words "anti-semitic" where appropriate - and quite rightly so.

Islamophobic is the equivalent.

The whole war would stop if Hamas released the hostages. All the deaths are on their heads. The ICC have got it wrong.

But no matter what your personal view of the organisations in question (and the personal bias is obvious) neither of them has the right to subject civilians to inhumane treatment, to deliberately target them, restrict their access to food and water or to eject them from their homes. It doesn't matter how democratic a country is if they choose a leader who promotes those things.
