No surprise there.

It has been obvious for months

Do you want to change your OP title as you mixed up the ICC with the ICJ Whitewavemark2 as it’s misleading?

Hmm, wonder how any Israelis captured or hostages are treated by hamas in Gaza?
Given what happened to over a thousand innocent Israelis last October you can’t blame any less than kind actions directed against hamas fighters who were injured and ended up in military hospitals!

That is exactly why there are rules of war Oreo because people can behave in an inhumane way and justify it just like you have just done. Fortunately civilised governments know that this is not acceptable, hence they sign up to agreements with the ICJ and ICC.

Have the Jewish medics and soldiers in IDF been named ?

Senior anaesthiologist, Yoel Donchin has spoken out publicly but most prefer to remain anonymous because of the fear of harrassment. However, above is a report by Physicians for human rights, Israel which is very comprehensive. This is a Jewish organisation based in Israel.

It takes courage to speak out publicly in Israel but there's a report on the BBC website with a named doctor who works in an Israeli hospital.

There have been numerous reports of the inhuman treatment of Palestinian prisoners from both Gaza and the Left Bank over the years.

Many are imprisoned for months or years then released with no trial or conviction having taken place. Many have no idea (apart from the fact that they are Palestinian) why they were imprisoned.

It amounts to thousands upon thousands of people.

Amal Clooney is a Human Rughts lawyer, she was a special advisor on thr investigation into war crimes in Israel and Gaza. She might have been wise to keep her own name, to avoid constant references to her as George Clooney’s wife.
I’m not criticising her choice to assume a married name but it may have led to some nit recognising she was an expert in international humanitarian law long before she met Mr Clooney

Reports from Hamas

No reports from Israeli whistleblowers.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 21-May-24 10:58:55

I assumed that people knew that she is a human rights lawyer, operating out of London. She has been involved in very high profile cases.

The George Clooney bit was a bit of light heartedness.

Information

“Karim Khan said his office had applied to the world court’s pre-trial chamber for arrest warrants for the military and political leaders on both sides for crimes committed during Hamas’s 7 October attack and the ensuing war in Gaza.
He named Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas chief in Gaza, and Mohammed Deif, the commander of its military wing, considered to be the masterminds of the 7 October assault, as well as Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the group’s political bureau, who is based in Qatar, as wanted for crimes of extermination, murder, hostage-taking, rape, sexual assault and torture.
In an extraordinary rebuke of Israel’s treatment of Palestinians and its conduct in the war in Gaza, Netanyahu and Gallant are accused of extermination, causing starvation as a method of war, the denial of humanitarian relief supplies and deliberately targeting civilians. Monday’s statement notably does not include any Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officials, such as its chief of staff, Lt Gen Herzi Halevi, focusing instead on political decision-making”

So well known you refer to her as ‘George Clooney wife’

Whitewavemark2 Tue 21-May-24 11:02:53

Khan also applied for a warrant for Putin’s arrest for his conduct of the Ukraine war.

Reports from Hamas

Amnesty International, Save The Children, Human Rights Watch, B'Tselem (an Israel based Jewish organisation) and War on Want are some of the organisations that have reported humanitarian abuse in Gaza and The West Bank prior to 07/10. Hamas has also been accused of abuse by many organisations too. I feel it's a mistake to think that any negative reports about the conduct of the IDF are Hamas propaganda, there have been many independent reports that cannot be dismissed as "propaganda" during a period when there was more access to the Palestinian areas. Surely they cannot all be dismissed as anti semitic either?

Khan

“In his statement, Khan made clear he was aware of the potential ramifications of the decision.
“If we do not demonstrate our willingness to apply the law equally, if it is seen as being applied selectively, we will be creating the conditions for its collapse,” he said.
“Now, more than ever, we must collectively demonstrate that international humanitarian law, the foundational baseline for human conduct during conflict, applies to all individuals and applies equally across the situations addressed by my office and the court. This is how we will prove, tangibly, that the lives of all human beings have equal value.”

Hasn’t Biden said this call against Netanyahu is ridiculous?

Urmstongran Tue 21-May-24 11:14:08

From The Telegraph just now:

“ Joe Biden has condemned the “outrageous” call for Benjamin Netanyahu’s arrest made by the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.

The US president said that Karim Khan’s call for Mr Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, the Israeli defence minister, to be arrested for war crimes had drawn “equivalence” between Israel and Hamas and Mr Biden reiterated his pledge to support the country’s security.

Antony Blinken, the US secretary of state, said it was “shameful” that Mr Khan had applied for an arrest warrant from the ICC, arguing that the court had no jurisdiction over the war in Gaza and that Israel had not been given a chance to put its case before the call was issued.

Mr Netanyahu said he “rejects with disgust” the attempts to charge him. “No pressure and no decision in any international forum will prevent us from striking those who seek to destroy us,” he added.”

silverlining48 Tue 21-May-24 11:19:44

Well he, Biden, would say that wouldn't he?

Hasn’t Biden said this call against Netanyahu is ridiculous?

Yes, but I’m not sure that this has got anything to do with anything.

The USA isn’t signed up to the CCI because it has been historically questioned over its behaviour in countries in which it was taking active military intervention. Afghanistan was one recent notable one.

Biden can of course shout from the sidelines, but his opinion is only that and the quote from Khan shows why courts like ICC are so important.

Urmstongran Tue 21-May-24 11:26:22

But … On the one hand you have a murderous leadership whose only aim is to kill Jews and take over Israel. All their resources have been plowed into that goal with no planning for a positive future for their people. On the other hand you have a forward thinking, proud, democratic western country trying to defend its people, get its hostages back and survive. How you can equate the two beggars belief. To me.

Anniebach Tue 21-May-24 11:33:11

Khan a Muslim wants to prosecute Netanyahu a Jew

Urmstongran Tue 21-May-24 11:33:30

As a respected constitutional law professor said - English law is law, foreign law is fact and international law is fiction. The ICC is an impotent nonsense.

foxie48 Tue 21-May-24 11:35:26

But they are not being "equated", each is being held accountable to their own actions and decisions according to International law. Khan recognises Israel's right to defend itself but not to break international law whilst doing that.
