So how exactly will Reform stop the boats?

I would not vote Conservative, but I don't trust Labour not to open the floodgates to yet more people who really don't like us and want to do us harm. Who to vote for - any ideas?

Reform for me- labour will get in but we need an opposition- vote Tory & it’s a wasted vote (we started on the left, moved to the right no better.. boats still landing on our shores
It’s becoming easier by the day though to know who NOT to vote for however.
My favourite candidate so far is “None of the above”
Yes. We’re waiting to hear.
What does the Reform party say it will do,Dingleberry? They seem to name a candidate, then sack them in days when their racist social media posts catch them out
Dingleberry
I think Reform party will be the party that does what it says it will do. I do not trust any of the others.
And what precisely is that?
I think Reform party will be the party that does what it says it will do. I do not trust any of the others.
Me too.
The Conservative Party is in no fit state to govern this country. It has lost many (most?) of its good, decent MP’s, They’ve either left of their own volition or been thrown out by Johnson. Whatever anyone thinks of Labour the Tories need some time out to sort themselves out. Which I hope they do because the thought of Reform being the main opposition party terrifies/sickens me. Johnson wanted to be seen as a second Churchill. What he has done is to possibly destroy his own party.
I typed SGBoo not Supboena 🤣. Gremlins is predictive test
As do I, which is why I will vote for whenever I think might do better at getting us out of this mess. And, it won’t be the Tories.
If people are satisfied with what the Tories have done over the last 14 years then go ahead, vote for them and take your chances with another 4 years of their hopelessly ineffectual tenure,
I think most sensible people will agree they have made a total mess of almost everything and all apart from the already wealthy are worse off in every way since they have been in government.
I do think Thornberry is a sneering, patronising politician, trying to pretend she’s some sort of working class woman. She’s not, and makes herself look silly pretending she is.
I also thought that the contrived persona of Johnson - scruffy hair, ill fitting clothes, man of the people - unconvincing and patronising. He’s a grifter whilst sitting on a fortune.
I think Farage is a con-man - pretending to be working class man, with his pints of beer when the cameras are rolling. Finest claret and moving his wealth around, when the cameras aren’t there.
They all play a game. But, I vote on party and not on individuals.
I’ll vote for who I think needs to be running the country.
Subpoena 🤙👏
What did Labour do wrong other than to follow Bush in the alleged WMD debarcle, yet there are so many comments here about them opening the floodgates to non Brits. The floodgates have been opened by the Tories and we need them shut.
I'm voting Labour, they have the best record in economic, social (including rights for minorities and vulnerable people) health, defence, policing (should I go on) performance. They shielded us from the last global recession too. I dont trust Farage as far as I could throw him and Tories will never get a vote from me, corporation tax for SME's will be 25% for LEs itll be whatever they negotiate with Treasury and I cant forgive them for 20%VAT either. Theyve run this country into the ground. If youre unsure go look at stats, the data is there for all of us to see.

If she'd posted a picture of a treelined road with BMWs and Audis parked on the drives, just for the context of the neighbourhood, would she have been accused of sneering at the middle classes?
*
Sorry, was that a bit too subtle?
Does posting a picture of somewhere automatically mean one is being critical of, or offensive about, the subject?
MaizieD you're far too intelligent not to see the prejudice, stereotyping and just plain snobbery of Thornberry's tweet. I'm really disappointed that you seem to need to obfuscate and avoid the obvious. You still haven't indicated what you think she was trying to convey in that tweet! OK if you can't think of an alternative meaning, just admit that, say you admire the woman or whatever, but this disingenuous posting just diminishes the respect you've been held in, even with posters who disagree with you on some issues.
She didn't post a picture of treelined road with BMWs and Audis parked on the drives, she posted a photo of one house displaying 3 St George's flags, with a white transit van parked on the drive. Anyone who isn't deliberately being disingenuous would see that.
The message was loud and clear.

^They are still bloody awful drivers^ ...
What, every single one?
That is stereotyping prejudice.

I did actually say why I thought she had tweeted in my first or second post on the subject but you were all so busy Thornberry hating that it seems to have been missed.
Having spent a while going through the thread from the beginning again I've found....
1st post I always thought that the universal derogatory use of the term 'white van man' arose from the fact that they seem to be the most appalling drivers on UK roads... 🤔
2nd post I'm a grandmother, too. I don't need any instructions on how to suck eggs.
I am very well aware of how the phrase is used politically.
They are still bloody awful drivers...
extract from 3rd post She posted a picture of a house displaying 3 St George's flags with a white van parked outside. Her comment was 'Image from Rochester'.
That was the tweet all the fuss was over. Where did she say 'white van man'?
So what was she trying to convey in her tweet? That the typical Rochester resident displays 3 St George's flags and has a white transit van parked on their drive? I think she's way out of touch if that's what she believes. You still didn't actually say what you think she was trying to indicate by her tweet.
I don't 'hate' Thornberry, I just get the impression she's a snob, and rather condescending.
And you obviously have no trouble stereotyping, or should that be 'hating', anyone who drives a white van.
Oh dear, proofread, proofread!
One ear on the news.

Diane Abbott is readmitted into the Labour party but it is unclear whether or not she be standing as a Labour candidate in July.

I don't hate anyone.
She just seems totally out of place in the Labour party.
I wonder what your thoughts might be if Tory Minister had made that comment?
It would be interesting to know if you could answer that too.
