Is anyone going to vote tactically?

I tried it at the last election but our seat is so true blue it made no difference. I suspect it will be the same this time. It doesn't help that I have no idea who the other candidates are yet.

I won’t need to as in a safe Labour seat🤞and I’ll be voting Labour. But I definitely would vote tactically in order to get Conservatives out, if I lived in a constituency where it was necessary.

I don't know if it's voting tactically, but so far I'm not impressed by our candidates so, since I believe that it is my duty to vote, I might well vote for someone who is almost certain not to win rather than for one of the unimpressive major party candidates.

I think the conservative party voters have all said no...

I will vote tactically if needed

Dinahmo Mon 27-May-24 16:36:14

Have done so in the past. My former constituency - Suffolk Coastal - has been Tory for as long as I can remember and, being a rural area the LP didn't stand a chance.

Visgir1 Mon 27-May-24 16:35:43

No, never.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 27-May-24 16:28:02

No, never have never will.

Cossy Mon 27-May-24 16:17:42

No

Calendargirl Mon 27-May-24 16:15:14

And no, I won’t be voting tactically.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 27-May-24 16:15:10

I have no need to, but if I lived in a potential tory returning seat, I would definitely vote tactically.

DiamondLily Mon 27-May-24 16:04:20

Yeah, probably.

I live in a true blue area, which will never vote Labour.

I’ll probably have to vote LD, even though I don’t support them. Better than any alternative though.

For the first time ever I will probably put 'none of the above'.

Well, that’ll be a total waste of time.

Wheniwasyourage Mon 27-May-24 14:45:50

Yes. Anything to get the Tories out.

Liz46 Mon 27-May-24 13:20:25

For the first time ever I will probably put 'none of the above'.

Siope Mon 27-May-24 13:18:01

I may. We have been a safe Tory seat, but a combination of numbers of progressive people moving here during lockdown, the unpopularity of the government, the incumbent resigning, and some minor boundary changes appear to have given the LibDems a slim chance of success, so, now they have ruled out a coalition with the Tories, I may vote for them.

Freya5 Mon 27-May-24 13:14:37

Certainly not, never have never will.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 27-May-24 13:08:00

Certainly not.

NotSpaghetti Mon 27-May-24 13:05:47

Unfortunately, I will have to vote like this.
Very annoying.

Wyllow3 Mon 27-May-24 13:03:57

No need this time, but at previous home always voted Lib Dem to keep the Tories out.

The most interesting local constituency for July down the road had an astonishing 78.2% turnout in 2019, vote share

34.6% Lab
33.4% Lib Dems
25.8% Cons
2.9% Greens

Tizliz Mon 27-May-24 12:50:11

Yes. Here it is LD or SNP. They are very close, with all other parties well behind. Neither LD or SNP would be my choice but if I vote for one of the other parties my least favourite party could get in.

Magsymoo Mon 27-May-24 12:48:29

Definitely would in your position and I have in the past voted Lib Dem to defeat the Tories. In this GE I think that is the top priority.

Urmstongran Mon 27-May-24 12:45:36

No.

Jaberwok Mon 27-May-24 12:43:49

No.

In my area, currently a Conservative-held seat, Labour's vote is very low, while the Lib Dems are within a few percent of the Conservatives.
If we had a fair PR system, I might vote Green, but I'm going to vote Lib Dem because I want to see the end of the Conservatives' run of power. Voting for any other party would just help the Conservative to get elected.
I do feel relaxed about a Labour administration. There seems to be a lot of talent at the top of the party.
