Hmm.
Standing as a Reform MP after all?
Emigrating to America to canvass for Trump?
Joining the Tory party?
None of the above?

I shall tune in out of curiosity.

Well, well…. Things are shifting it seems:

“ Reform has surged to within just two points of the Conservatives in the latest YouGov poll following the return of Nigel Farage as leader.

Mr Farage’s party is up by two percentage points to 17 per cent, with the Conservatives down two on 19 per cent.

Labour is down six to 40 per cent, meaning its lead is now 21 points in the wake of YouGov changing its methodology and the former Ukip leader making a sensational return to frontline politics.

The poll was carried out on Monday, when Mr Farage announced his comeback, and Tuesday, the day of the first head-to-head TV debate between Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer.”

On another note, still election there was a article on Google (not sure it's source and can't find it now) that predicted the Tories will do so badly that they will become the third party to the Liberal Democrats. It I definitely going to be interesting if nothing else. Myself, I don't think it's going g to be any different whoever wins. Just different ways of taking my money off me even though I'm retired

Well, he’s not got my knickers going anywhere lol

I look on him as the constantly inconsequential joke I enjoy.😉

What's it in please ?

zakouma66 Wed 05-Jun-24 14:07:04

Sorry Maggs, you are not the underwear person.

What on earth does that mean? My underwear remains firmly where it should be.

What do you admire about him and his policies please?

In todays Guardian "Clacton" people interviewed - quite a few were not from Clacton at all.

Well love him or hate him he's certainly got a few knickers in a twist on this thread.

MaggsMcG Wed 05-Jun-24 12:51:10

He's standing in Clacton On Sea at least that's what as on TikTok, Threads and X.

Farage's supporters know what he is like. They see someone who addresses their perceived disatisfactions with the political class, who they believe is not on their side. Trump plays the same card.
Don't expect Politician (or phony ones like Farage to change the World. They will disrupt of course - wind and fire signifying nothing.

I really don’t know why you’re all getting het up about it. Even if Nigel Farage was to win his seat, it won’t change the outcome of the election.
It’s an entertaining thread though.

If I were a Tory, I would be very worried.

Guaranteed Farage has his eye on the leadership.

It is very likely that he will win. He will the very likely do a deal with the Tory party and will be snapped up by the right.

One nation Tories must be so worried.

Wyllow3 Wed 05-Jun-24 12:38:49

Do people voting for him think it's perfectly alright - equally possible they just don't know.

To think they know and don't care, now that is scary. To give an anti-semite a place as an MP -how can that be OK.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 05-Jun-24 12:32:03

I think we all know that. It doesn’t make him ‘the most despicable person ever’ though. I think DiamondLily sums him up well.

Farage is racist/mysogynist - read article on his remarks over time.

Wyllow3 Wed 05-Jun-24 12:28:35

Its a copycat

"BREXIT PARTY LEADER NIGEL FARAGE IS ESCORTED TO A CAR AFTER HAVING WHAT IS THOUGHT TO BE A MILKSHAKE THROWN OVER HIM AS HE VISITS NORTHUMBERLAND STREET IN NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE DURING A WHISTLE-STOP UK TOUR ON MAY 20, 2019"

I doubt he is the most despicable person ever. Hitler? Stalin?

I think he’s a self serving little creep, but not really evil. He’s an empty vessel, making a lot of noise🙄

DiamondLily Wed 05-Jun-24 12:24:01

Farage has been around a long time. He makes a lot of noise, but has never actually won a Westminster seat - so, he’s actually fairly irrelevant to it all. One of two parties will be in charge on July 5th - and Farage won’t be in either of them..🙄

Babamaman Wed 05-Jun-24 12:14:46

He is the most despicable person ever. He probably does not even know where Clacton is?
I just pray, pray that the people of Clacton have the sense and honour not to vote for him, anyone but Farage - the most evil of evil 🙏

I wouldn't say het up exactly. Maybe a little. Gobsmacked that we have come to this.

Nicenanny3 absolutely agree with you. Nigel Farage is not racist but he cares deeply about this country and the quality of life of people living here. You are so right about people in the real world voting for him and his values.

grin grin grin etc..........walks off chuckling about 'cares deeply about this country'.........

Amalegra Wed 05-Jun-24 11:41:22

Not so keen on Farage but the Reform Party has some interesting, if controversial, ideas. They obviously will not win the election, it is more than likely that Labour will, but the next government must be taken to task for policies they will strive to enact. On present performance, the Tories are a sorry lot and I’m not sure they will make the effective Opposition that any democracy needs. Everyone is expecting a new Labour government to be the salvation of the country. With their present set of rather nebulous policies, including some that are downright divisive, I am not at all sure.

Now some folk are saying that he was in on the stunt, to get publicity. The plot thickens. Was the stunt fake news? Was saying it is 'fake news', is that fake news? Depends on whether or not the girl is actually charged by the Police. No matter what, he is headlining, so a win for him.
