Mmmm food for thought. I think the issue is that with divisive leaders come extremists and hopefully the electorate in his constituency will send him a sharp message by not voting for him.

In the Daily Mail, which has reported it, Reform accuses the BBC of "forensic archeology". Fair enough if made 15 years ago, but t was 2022.

We seemed blessed with idiots in this part of the world. Littlehampton and Bognor have the pleasure of considering Daniells from the Reform party who appears to have spent the last few years “liking” Tommy Robinson, racist memes, and fascist rhetoric.

re Churchill. Did anyone see the film "Darkest Hour" last night? In case you didn't, it's about the days leading up to Dunkirk.

Following Hitler's invasion of the Low Countries on May 10 1940 Chamberlain resigned and Churchill was appointed PM leading a coalition govt. He made his first speech (blood, toil, tears and sweat) to Parliament on May 13 when he outlined plans for British resistance.

There were several people in parliament who wanted to appease Hitler and use Mussolini as a negotiator, one of whom was Viscount Halifax and some of the army chiefs.

There were over 330,000 Allied soldiers trapped between Calais and Dunkirk and most of them were evacuated by sea.

I expect that most of you know about this so forgive me for telling you.

The film, although there are historical inaccuracies, portrays the difficulties Churchill had in coming to a decision. Gribbin's statement about Churchill and appeasement are appalling and we have to hope that the people in Bexhill and Battle will give him short shrift.

I used to lived in that ward, and some of us didn’t think like that.

I 'debated' with one such years ago on a SM site.

He said that women were 'spongers' too. They only ever want to do the "nice" jobs and not get their hands dirty.

But when challenged, he admitted that women shouldn't drive busses, 'planes, fight in the army, because they weren't up to it and were just a liability with men having to pick up the pieces, etc, etc.

You can't win with men like that, and they are not worth listening to because, obviously, they have a personal problem with women.

I wonder how the Jewish voting community feel about his comments on Hitler?

Re-watching Pride & Prejudice recently (2005) I remember Elizabeth's aunt commenting about Mr Darcy when he spoke... "there's something pleasant about his mouth when he speaks"
... I looked at Gribbin's mouth - it's all tight and pinched.

Good grief- and I thought that Reform had already scraped the bottom of the barrel: clearly not.
On other threads, posters talk about Reform candidates saying what " lots of people think" or "telling it like it is" . I wonder how they see this man's worldview? Is he " saying what lots of people think"?

Apologised for what he said about Hitler? I actually don’t know what to say. I’m disgusted that anyone could ever admire Hitler. Perhaps he needs a visit to one of many sites I’ve visited in Germany and Poland. Auschwitz would be a good start.

No-one says things like that and then 'apologises' as if it's just an every-day faux-pas.

This compares to eight for the Green Party, five for Labour, three for the Conservatives, two for the Liberal Democrats and one for the Workers Party of Britain.

How can he have admired Putin - a man obsessed with his own sense of power? He thinks he's created the bonds that form a stable society? A man who will have dissidents murdered?

God preserve us from these hot-heads.

I believe that Reform fans like candidates who say what people are really thinking and tell it like it is but surely they must draw the line at this fellow's straight talking.

The silence is deafening, isn’t it!

Isn't this what Reform voters want? What else do they think the party stands for? This particular candidate doesn't gloss his content but the message is the same from all of them.
