Princess Anne incident

I'm reading this from abroad, so hope some can confirm.
'The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening.
Is it a riding accident or a fall?

She is Southmead Hospital which is a fairly modern NHS hospital.

I believe all patients are in individual rooms with their own bathroom

I was concussed after a fall from a horse when I was about 18, not 73. 55 years later I still ave no memory of the accident. I imagine that at her age they will take no chances with the princess.

A young girl we knew was turning her pony into a field when it kicked out. It caught her on the head and she died. Totally accidental.

Princess Anne has taken some humdingers of falls in cross country in the past. The bulletins say she should be fine. Really unusual for a horse to kick forward, cows usually do that, vv rare for a horse? I think she's a trooper & I know the Royal family aren't elected, but I don't think you'd get a better Princess Royal even if they were.

When it is Princess Charlotte's turn, I think she will do the job in much the same spirit as Princess Anne.

I agree Nightsky Great facilities. We’re lucky to have it as our nearest hospital

Oh MayBee please don’t bring the estrangement into this. Two sides etc

NfkDumpling Tue 25-Jun-24 08:50:32

I think I just heard on the radio that it was a head butt.

Not malicious, and often done at this time of year just to dislodge flies. Humans have their uses!

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 25-Jun-24 08:54:50

I hope you’re not expecting your DiL to talk to you about a patient Nightsky?

I don't think Grannybags's DiL will say much more than "horse and head" in her explanation. At least, I would hope not.

I posted on GN once that I discussed his work with my son, who is an engineer for Hinckley Point, and we got accused of breaking the official secrets act!

Thanks GSM and pascal for pointing out confidentiality to Nightsky

Southmead Hospital is not far from me. It is a fantastic, flag ship hospital and the staff are wonderful. I have nothing but praise for it.

20 yrs ago I had a large stable of horses, when there is a group of them pushing and barging each other it can be risky, feeding tit bits was not allowed which helped. The only one ever hurt was myself a young horse got frightened and took off.

Don’t worry I’ll report my offensive post myself and get it removed. I only said it because it’s how I feel and also pointed out how much I admired Princess Anne and was concerned about her.

Anniebach Tue 25-Jun-24 10:33:09

Your post was not offensive MayBee ,

MaizieD Tue 25-Jun-24 10:54:47

There was nothing particularly wrong with your post, MayBee.

It was the fact that the subject was being continued by another poster, despite a polite request that it shouldn't be followed up on this thread.

Sorry if I've given the wrong impression.

I'd like to know who asked for my post to be withdrawn, because it wasn't me...

MayBee70 Tue 25-Jun-24 11:03:19

Well it wasn’t me. I only asked for my post to be withdrawn. And I didn’t see a post asking for Harry not to be mentioned other than comments regarding what I’d said. As far as I know I was the only person who had mentioned him.

You said ‘think she was head butted, must ask tomorrow’. What did those words mean then?

MaizieD Tue 25-Jun-24 11:09:09

It was Iam64, just after your initial post.

The post I was objecting to was sarnia's 'followup..

Everything seems to have gone now, apart from Iam's post...

It's now water under the bridge, I hope.
