Sadiq Khan has banned black cabs in London from flying the England flag during the Euros’s

He sites causing a distraction

Funny that he doesn’t have a problem with all the cars flying Palestinian flags in support of Gaza?

Wyllow3 Wed 26-Jun-24 13:55:06

No one here has offered any evidence whatsoever that Khan has allowed London Black Cabs to fly the Palestinian flag.

There has been one allegation with no evidence given.

Please give me any evidence. I've googled: I've checked all the papers: no pictures or examples have been given.

I find when driving on motorways a distraction when large containers with adverts on them are strategically placed in fields adjacent to the road so you can’t help but notice them. They should be banned.

Hope black cab drivers fly the flag - Americans all fly their flag. Why is this man not allowing it here and as someone on this site said why does he allow Palestinian flags to fly ?

tictacnana Wed 26-Jun-24 13:20:01

The man is a racist !

Wyllow3 Wed 26-Jun-24 12:59:47

orly

Spot on observation, GG13. Richard Tyce was right when he said the London mayor was in the control of Islamists

What is your evidence for this racist assertion?

GG13 alleged a blind eye was being used for some other flags, not that the London Mayor was as you have said.

I've checked the papers out and no reports of London taxis flying other nations flags

And many Jewish people fly their national flag. I

Barrybelle Wed 26-Jun-24 12:42:40

Sadiq Khan has not explicitly banned the Union flag for this purpose. Under rules brought in by Boris Johnson when he was Mayor of London, black cabs are not allowed to fly flags of ANY description. Press dog whistling!

brummie Wed 26-Jun-24 12:28:03

Germanshepherdsmum is conflating Jewish with Zionist. Many many Jewish people join in the support for Palestine marches and fly Palestine flags. It is surely time for you to make the distinction.

Anniebach Wed 26-Jun-24 12:21:52

Iam fight for your flag, we certainly would fight for our dragon in Wales

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 26-Jun-24 12:00:29

Good post Iam.

meddijess Wed 26-Jun-24 11:59:22

Replying to Gloryannie. Why on earth would a Muslim or Arab woman not feel safe riding in a taxi flying the England flag? This is England, for goodness' sake!!

Iam64 Wed 26-Jun-24 11:53:54

People fought and died under the union flag in recent wars. Am I right in thinking the flag of St George was flown during the crusades.
I’m English, or should I say I ID as English despite dna that says I’m Danish, French, Scottish, Irish and with heritage in northwest England. I’m not prepared to concede the red n white flag to racists. We should claim it

LizzieDrip Wed 26-Jun-24 11:53:14

Which obnoxious man are you referring to undines? Boris Johnson, I presume, as he was the one who introduced the ruling about flags under discussion.

Wyllow3 Wed 26-Jun-24 11:52:58

undines

Many people are not noticing that our national identity and freedoms are being systematically eroded. How can this be right? Why does this obnoxious man have so much power?

since the ban dates from BJ times and is to do with health and Safety

and its an England only flag not the Union Jack and is brought out for footie reasons, I really don't feel my national identity and freedoms are being systematically eroded.

Plenty of private cars/hanging out of windows England flags going!

Cava Wed 26-Jun-24 11:38:33

Actually the flag is associated with England surely?

nanna8 Wed 26-Jun-24 11:36:42

What ? It’s your national flag and people fought and died under it. Sorry state of affairs.

Grantanow Wed 26-Jun-24 11:35:40

Khan bashing has become a regular thing for some people. Personally, I doubt flags of any kind are much of a distraction. The King flies a pennant on his car, I believe. If you don't like the flag don't use the cab.

Buttonjugs Wed 26-Jun-24 11:34:42

Years ago I wouldn’t have thought twice about it but nowadays the flag is associated with the far right. That’s the fault of the far right surely? I’m sure that’s the reason it’s banned.

Wyllow3 Wed 26-Jun-24 11:33:02

So what did the taxis actually do or not do?

Amalegra Wed 26-Jun-24 11:28:05

Why doesn’t everyone fly the flag despite the ban? The more we give in to these petty tyrants, the more they will demand!

payens1 Wed 26-Jun-24 11:12:24

This particular ban was introduced by Boris Johnson

vegansrock Tue 25-Jun-24 18:13:29

Maybe the OP should change the title of this thread to “Did Boris Johnson go too far? “ just for accuracy.

LizzieDrip Tue 25-Jun-24 14:14:28

Siope I’m joining yousmile
