Sadiq Khan has banned black cabs in London from flying the England flag during the Euros’s

He sites causing a distraction

Funny that he doesn’t have a problem with all the cars flying Palestinian flags in support of Gaza?

🙈🙉🙊

Oreo yes, that is what I have observed with my own eyes, hence my use of turning a blind eye by the authorities (Sadiq Khan) .

I've just checked. Tfl says no flags AT ALL can be flown on taxis. Those looking for an anti-English agenda to this need to look elsewhere. It's just a racism-stirring dog-whistle.

It may say no flags but in practice the cab drivers do what they like.In other words they do fly flags on their cabs.

TfL does not permit flags to be flown on licensed cabs.

Paperbackwriter Thu 27-Jun-24 14:45:27

This is totally untrue. Nobody has been banned from flying flags of any kind. I've seen the debunking post somewhere but am too otherwise occupied to findand post it on here. Honestly, people will believe any old rubbish!

The word ‘woke’ seems to be disappearing, thank goodness. Nasty, whatever side of politics you support.

Siope, apologies if I wasn’t clear. I was agreeing with and supporting HousePlantQueen

Sorry, I misunderstood!

I don't think any form of public transport should be adorned with flags, badges or emblems of any kind. If bus or taxi drivers want to demonstrate their support for a particular team or cause they can do it on or in their own homes.

To be fair, Iam64 it was Orly who used ‘woke’ first, as a derogatory term, whilst defending some outright racism.

Most people want to hear honest opinions from MPs without the woke contingent seeking to be offended and "cancelling" them

I think it’s reasonable for HPQ to defend herself, and to point out that ‘woke’ is not an insult.

If being "woke" means checking things, refusing to spread untruths and not living in an echo chamber of ill informed hatred......then I am woke. And proud.

The use of this word is pathetic, as was the old favourite -PC. Lazy arrogant meaningless

DiamondLily Wed 26-Jun-24 18:02:48

I was in central London, yesterday, and some black cabs were flying England flags. We had a match last night.

Never heard of this rule, and neither had a friend of mine who is a black cab driver, so I think this is a bit of a fantasy account from certain media.🤷‍♀️

Ah, lots of obnoxious men out there on all fronts
Just as well we aren't obnoxious with each other on here!

Spot on observation, GG13. Richard Tyce was right when he said the London mayor was in the control of Islamists

What is your evidence for this racist assertion?

GG13 alleged a blind eye was being used for some other flags, not that the London Mayor was as you have said.

*I've checked the papers out and no reports of London taxis flying other nations flags*

I was waiting for the "racist" card!

Labour's by-election candidate in Rochdale, Azhar Ali, was removed for stating his opinion that Israel deliberately allowed the 7 October massacre to give it the "green light" to invade Gaza.

Richard Tyce defended Lee Anderson who was suspended as a Conservative MP after refusing to apologise for claims Islamists had "control" of London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

Both, from different sides of the divide, voiced their own opinions. Neither is a "racist" comment.

Most people want to hear honest opinions from MPs without the woke contingent seeking to be offended and "cancelling" them.

Hope black cab drivers fly the flag - Americans all fly their flag. Why is this man not allowing it here and as someone on this site said why does he allow Palestinian flags to fly ?

Read the thread

Many people are not noticing that our national identity and freedoms are being systematically eroded. How can this be right? Why does this obnoxious man have so much power?

Read the thread. Acquant yourself with the facts. I hope you do more research before you cast your vote, but somehow I suspect not.

vegansrock Wed 26-Jun-24 14:41:54

Just coming back from Central London , some numerous cabs and buses, not a single one had flags of any kind flying. Saw a lot of Japanese flags on lampposts to welcome the emperor. Quite right too.

westendgirl Wed 26-Jun-24 14:28:29

The England team need much more than a flag waving fiesta the way they are playing.

I understand that taxis with any flag at all is illegal and if that’s the case then those who have reported this as something criticising khan are just trouble makers . Especially as TFL , not khan , decide on these things.
