What is it that attracts racists, Islamaphobes, homophobes and general bigots to Nigel Farage?

I’ve pinched this question from James O’Brian. And to me it is obvious, - they are fascists - talking about replacing the police with paramilitaries and bringing back the death penalty as well as shoot f….g immigrants has huge echoes of 1930s Germany.

So why would you vote for him?

I find it truly shocking that some people have it in for Nigel Farage. He speaks for the silent majority in this country. He is not racist in any shape or form. He is the only one to tell the truth of what is really going on - the poisoning of our way of life, the indoctrination of our children, all the woke idealogy, killing our democracy and decency and he is the only one who has the guts to challenge it and put the British people first, whatever their creed or colour. It is an absolute disgrace that the establishment disparage him. He is not far right. People need to be educated. Well done Nigel !

👏👏👏

He also packs out every venue he visits so there must be plenty of people who do like him.

James O’Brien who attended Ampleforth and LSE.
He is the most smug, arrogant, hypocritical and rude presenter I have ever listened to.
He just stirs up hatred.

Why is someone who is intelligent enough to accept that we cannot keep housing more and more immigrants considered a racist?

Why is someone who does not accept Stonewalls teachings and values to young children a homophobe?

Why is someone who is aware of the dreadful attacks and appalling treatment of women around the world by Muslims an Islamaphobe?

👏👏👏

I often think the attraction is more nuanced than bigots and racists being attracted to Nigel Farage, who has a dubious reputation and is someone who is no better than he should be, but his appeal lies in being prepared to take on bodies and individuals who are no better than THEY should be and that came to light in his pursuit of the "" individual versus the mighty bank". Bigotry is not a preserve or the right it's there in many guises on the left particularly in certain censorious criticisms of those who oppose particular points of view and the increasing inclination to shut down those who express anything that dissents to the official line on certain matters. Nigel Farage knows and uses much of that to his advantage.

I wouldn't consider voting for Reform because clearly some of their candidates are nuts, but I think blanketing every person who supports them as a racist and a bigot is too much of a blanket concept, when most of us know there is a mass disaffection with the two main parties and that extends to corporations and people in public life generally.

It is very similar to what happened in Nazi Germany. Hitler used Jews as scapegoats for the problems in society at the time and Reform are using Muslims. Reform supporters are grossly exaggerating and scaremongering saying Muslims will take over our society and introduce Sharia law, all this from 6% of the population. At that time we had Oswald Mosley propagating the ideology and now we have Nigel Farage. I just hope the majority of voters aren’t taken in by it.

'It' refers to what? A few crazy people spouting hate does not mean we are living through Nazi Germany again. You should be watching what goes on with George Galloway and his cronies if you want something to worry about.

To me, the OP seems to have it in for anyone who doesn’t support the left or maybe the far left and hates anyone to disagree.
Even the title for this thread is wrong, as people like that aren’t attracted to Nigel Farage they’re attracted to Tommy Robinson.
There are some suspect and nutty Reform candidates and also some suspect and nutty candidates for the Greens but they can’t be lumped in with Nigel Farage and as long as those candidates are got rid of then all will be well.
You, OP should recognise that people don’t always hold the same views as you, but worrying about the high rate of immigration doesn’t make them racists or bigots.Gordon Brown found that out the hard way.

Whitewavemark2 Nigel Farage has made a statement which was all over the news this morning stating that the people who were filmed making the racist and homophobic remarks were no longer welcome in Reform U.K.

It’s called damage limitation. Farage is a master PR manipulator.

Of course, as was/is Alistair Campbell, Dominic Cummings and the whole caboodle of spin doctors employed by our political parties and leaders.

They all are experts on damage limitation.

No one seems to answer that question.

I have already answered that question.

sago apparently there is a study from Germany that shows people who support the AfD- a similar political party to Reform tend to be less secure and more unhappy than average.

Reading you post I think that confirms it.

Are you willing to support a paramilitary police, or someone maintains a proper England no longer exists, etc.

What attracts you to a party of racists and bigots?

So you are saying I am a racist, homophobic, Islamophobia bigot!
You know nothing about me!
Why not answer the questions I posed rather than starting a slanging match.

Absolutely not!

I am talking about the candidates and those surrounding Farage.

Have you facts and data to support your comment that NF speaks for this countries silent majority?
A genuine question, I’d like to know the numbers.

Ashcombe Fri 28-Jun-24 11:40:01

People need to be educated

Most of the support for Reform on the local Next Door social media site where I live reflects a distinct lack of education amongst the posters.

Although I recognise there are problems with some of our police I would hate to see our police force become a paramilitary organisation or for the army to use defenceless immigrants as target practice.

gg13 so saying what was said on Ch4 by Farage chief arranger of events - who has been with him since the UKIP days - is not against party lines!,

Blimey - and I have absolutely no doubt that these views have been held by thst individual since his ukip days, and he is completely relaxed about speaking his thoughts out loud.

Farage will be completely aware of this individuals racism and prejudices.

Where have I said that what was said by the Reform Canvasser was ok?

I think it was appalling, pleased he is no longer recognised as an ambassador/canvasser for reform.

Whether or not Nigel Farage either approves or disapproves in private is a mute point, but publicly he has disowned him and others of a similar vein.

I doubt he would have expelled them if they hadn't been exposed. I don't think he's at all fussy about who supports him. They up his standing in the polls and pay into his company.

Your post could and probably does apply to every political party both here in the U.K. and worldwide.

They never remove the whip, or remove them from the party until such time they are found doing something against the party lines

I am not a Reform U.K. supporter, but can see why so many disenfranchised people are drawn towards them.

I realise that this could apply to other political parties, the tories in recent years being a fine example.

But, this, if true, tells us a great deal about Farage's stance. Numbers are far more important to him than the quality of those who comprise those numbers.

Apparently Tice was getting rid of them at a brisk rate, but it completely stopped once Farage took over.

Personalities like Trump, Johnson and Farage like the limelight and know how to stay there, they are dangerous to the every day person.

Galaxy Fri 28-Jun-24 11:13:51

You (general you) have made the term far right meaningless, nobody even hears it anymore. WW has just included the death penalty as fascism, I am utterly opposed to the death penalty but is America now considered fascist?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 28-Jun-24 11:13:09

I have yet to see any evidence that he has expelled all those shown on Ch4.

Cossy Fri 28-Jun-24 11:08:35

Farage is not “right wing”, he and his candidates are far right. Actually, Farage is just playing at all of this, as he always does, he finds it all an amusement, if he became PM he’s run a country mile! He’s a complete joke!
