What is it that attracts racists, Islamaphobes, homophobes and general bigots to Nigel Farage?

Whitewavemark2 Nigel Farage has made a statement which was all over the news this morning stating that the people who were filmed making the racist and homophobic remarks were no longer welcome in Reform U.K.

I doubt he would have expelled them if they hadn't been exposed. I don't think he's at all fussy about who supports him. They up his standing in the polls and pay into his company.

Your post could and probably does apply to every political party both here in the U.K. and worldwide.

They never remove the whip, or remove them from the party until such time they are found doing something against the party lines

I am not a Reform U.K. supporter, but can see why so many disenfranchised people are drawn towards them.

James O’Brien who attended Ampleforth and LSE.
He is the most smug, arrogant, hypocritical and rude presenter I have ever listened to.
He just stirs up hatred.

Why is someone who is intelligent enough to accept that we cannot keep housing more and more immigrants considered a racist?

Why is someone who does not accept Stonewalls teachings and values to young children a homophobe?

Why is someone who is aware of the dreadful attacks and appalling treatment of women around the world by Muslims an Islamaphobe?

None of those things make people any of those things!

Most decent people, and I include ALL GNs, are not racist, homophobic nor accept violence against women!

The issue is when one singles out one particular group or cohort of people and label them all negatively.

Most Muslims are peace loving, I’ve worked with many, both male and females, as both colleagues and claimants.

Primary schools do not “teach Stonewall policies” nor expresses Hetrosexuals as negative or somehow “bad”. They do, however, have to teach that families come in many forms, because in a typical class there will be families with two mummies or two daddies, or just one parent, or being brought up by grandparents or in foster care. It does “normalise” these relationships because they ARE normal.

We are all “intelligent” enough to recognise we need to control immigration of all types.

As you will be very aware, it’s extremism that many of us dislike and call out.

I’ve pinched this question from James O’Brian. And to me it is obvious, - they are fascists - talking about replacing the police with paramilitaries and bringing back the death penalty as well as shoot f….g immigrants has huge echoes of 1930s Germany.

So why would you vote for him?

Why would you not want a right wing party for balance?

Don't you find it very disappointing that these people are damaging that balance by their extreme far right rhetoric?

Or are you so insecure that you can't cope with a right wing party at all? Everything must be left wing or extreme left wing.

I wish I knew, but my mum used to say 'think it, don't say it,' I think this came from the war.

Sometimes we let the mask slip- we all have prejudices and make judgements about others.

It comes from a place of fear.

I would say the biggest sign of insecurity is insulting people who disagree with you.

How interesting apparently at least 1 in 10 of the candidates have said the sort of things you witnessed on Ch4

So that would reduce the candidates by a considerable number.

But it doesn’t answer the question which is why does Farage attract these fascists in the first place?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 28-Jun-24 10:54:38

sago apparently there is a study from Germany that shows people who support the AfD- a similar political party to Reform tend to be less secure and more unhappy than average.

Reading you post I think that confirms it.

Are you willing to support a paramilitary police, or someone maintains a proper England no longer exists, etc.

What attracts you to a party of racists and bigots?

Chestnut Fri 28-Jun-24 10:50:03

Of course there are extreme far right people like that, but they are homeless politically so they have to attach themselves to a right wing party. It's not Farage they are 'attracted to' but what other party can they join? Reform needs to kick them out asap. By the way I do not vote Reform but I do feel strongly that we need a right wing party for balance and these crazy people are damaging that balance.

I'd suppose that people rather like David Tennant, who believes women should "shut up", would enlist with Farage's Fascists.
Mind you, I don't think Farage & Co. would tolerate Tennants wokeness for five minutes. He would be "dealt with" by a Farage administration.

Why indeed WWM. To think it amusing to suggest that immigrants on boats should be shot as target practice is appalling.
These people are facists why would anyone think they are people who are decent snd honourable suitable to run the country.
