I wish I could see the dawning of a new age of equality and prosperity with this Labour government but I don't.

What I do see however is an end of a totally inept, corrupt and morally barren group of over privileged wasters. However, I was sorry to see that Penny Mordaunt lost her seat as she is one of the good ones.

I am very aware of the danger to democracy that the Reform party poses and I think that we must be very wary of them.

I’m up having a bit of sleep.
P

Not sure where to begin really.

we now have a boring prime minister who puts public service before self service.

Isn’t it great!!

MayBee70 Fri 05-Jul-24 06:54:55

Oh no. Ch4 talking about people being given a place in the HOL’s in front of Dorries again! ( poor Nad)

MayBee70 Fri 05-Jul-24 06:50:20

Great!

Casdon Fri 05-Jul-24 06:49:31

Truss has gone!

MayBee70 Fri 05-Jul-24 06:46:47

Jonathan Ashworth lost because of Gaza. He’s a huge loss who loved his constituency. I’m afraid I don’t like the new leader of the Greens. Maybe I’m just sore that she ousted Thangam. Truss nowhere to be seen….

MissAdventure Fri 05-Jul-24 06:45:24

There were so many surprises, i found.

Poorer areas where the conservatives were voted in, huge differences in the amount of votes, like the lib dems, and the greens.

The greens had around a thousand votes in one place, then would have 18 thousand in another.

It's exciting watching the results come in, even though the end was a foregone conclusion. I'm delighted that Reform have done so well. It was a risk voting for them but they have done much better than expected.

Penny Mordaunt has lost her seat, which is a shame but what she says is true......the Tories went their own way and didn't listen to the people of this country. If Labour want to stay in power, they must be careful not to make the same mistake.

Personally, I think people are going to be bitterly disappointed in Starmer, but it will give the Tories time to re-invent themselves.

Mamardoit Fri 05-Jul-24 06:42:02

Still trying to catch up.

Leicester bucking the trend. Jonathan Ashworth lost his seat. He had a good majority too.

Leicester East turns blue.

Liz truss result soon

🙏

They had really high numbers of votes in some places, and next to nothing in others.

Strange night

Result of concerted LD tactical voting campaign to get Tories out

Casdon Fri 05-Jul-24 06:38:38

I think it’s odd everywhere! Plenty of analytics will follow I imagine…..

Pantglas2 Fri 05-Jul-24 06:37:00

Really strange figures in Wales with Labour and Tories losing support from 2019 election with Reform being the biggest gainer. Turn out was poor at 56% as well. Very odd 🤔

Channel 4 is actually quite good now most of the results are in. More analytical. Bit fed up of the other channels trying to prove that Labours win isn’t as good as it seems to be. Oh hell: Patel wins. The remaining Conservatives are all right wing.

I prefer Sky, even though the graphics are ‘interesting’ - particularly the leaders heads with the results in a body shape beneath them, it reminds me of Cluedo. Maybe that’s deliberate.

Yes, exactly my point too!

Well done, Labour! A tough job ahead.

I'm delighted for the Lib Dems. We won the seat in our constituency from the Conservatives, like I thought we might. 45% of the votes, the Labour candidate received 5%.
I've got a lot of time for Ed Davey. He was never going to win outright, but I hope their voices are heard loud and clear.

MayBee70 Fri 05-Jul-24 06:30:30

Peter Bottomley has lost his seat. I liked him.

Casdon Fri 05-Jul-24 06:24:08

I just saw that the Lib Dem’s have equalled their best ever result, with more seats to come probably.

Casdon Fri 05-Jul-24 06:23:05

James Cleverly has retained his seat.

Aveline Fri 05-Jul-24 06:20:31

Well. Gosh. What good news to wake up to! I'm glad to see a good result for LibDems and even happier to see SNP trounced. It's a surprise that Farage got in but I think he'll be good in parliament - someone to ask awkward questions. With a ruling party with such a big majority that will be necessary. Meanwhile, congratulations to Labour. All eyes on positive changes.

What a boring voice Starmer has. Hope his policies are better than his presentation. Budgerigar.

Is that all you can say about him. What about the content of his speech. Was that boring too. If he’s so boring why put yourself through having to listen to him? You don’t have to.

MissAdventure Fri 05-Jul-24 06:19:14

I think I'm stuck on the sofa, anyway.
I might have to try and roll off it and crawl into my room.

Visgir1 Fri 05-Jul-24 06:18:43

Well, not as bad a Tory kicking as predicted.
My Conservative MP is still in situ Suella Braverman.
