Ooh lovely, Pantglas.
I wanted a cuppa about 5 hours ago and still havent had one.

MaizieD Fri 05-Jul-24 05:05:54

Now I can go to 😴

MayBee70 Fri 05-Jul-24 05:05:52

Oh that was worth staying up for! Best Portillo moment ever!

MaizieD Fri 05-Jul-24 05:05:18

Diane Abbot has been returned for Hackney. I'm glad about that, she was shabbily treated.
Will she become the Mother of the House, I wonder?

Delighted that Rees Mogg has gone😆

Mouse Fri 05-Jul-24 05:04:33

Mogg has gone? Thank goodness for that.

Pantglas2 Fri 05-Jul-24 05:04:32

Brewing as I type, Miss Adventure 🤗

MissAdventure Fri 05-Jul-24 05:03:23

I'm really pleased to see the back of Mogg.
I don't feel sorry for him!

Mouse Fri 05-Jul-24 05:02:13

My area has returned to Labour.

In other news I’m glad to see the back of Therese Coffrey. Odious woman.

Mamardoit Fri 05-Jul-24 05:01:40

Jacob Rees-Mogg has gone.

Casdon Fri 05-Jul-24 05:01:23

The Rees-Mogg moment! He went seconds before Labour reached the 326 seats needed.

MissAdventure Fri 05-Jul-24 05:01:09

Mogg is out!!! smile

MissAdventure Fri 05-Jul-24 05:00:24

Good morning Pantglas smile
Have you got your chamber pot of tea?

Litterpicker Fri 05-Jul-24 04:59:18

Jeremy Hunt has hung on to his seat but he looks wrecked.

Rishi Sunak’s speech was dignified and statesmanlike - first time I’ve been impressed by him.

Scotland has gone back to Labour by the look of it.

Alliance party candidate has won in Lagan Valley (Northern Ireland). A hopeful sign.

I think I might have to give in and go to bed. Thanks to Whitewavemark for starting this thread and all contributors who I have been following with interest, in between keeping an eye on Twitter/X and The Guardian. I switched between BBC and C4 with a brief look in at ITV and GB News.

MissAdventure Fri 05-Jul-24 04:56:49

I'm no good at the cut and thrust of politics.
I end up feeling sorry for everyone.

Pantglas2 Fri 05-Jul-24 04:56:44

Morning all…as expected our local Labour candidate has gained our seat with a healthy majority with the previous Tory mp being pipped into 3rd place by Plaid Cymru!

I said previously I’ve never won on election night and sure enough it’s happened again (did win at bingo though 😂) but I’m pleased that Plaid have gained another 2 seats, now 4 in total!

Doodledog Fri 05-Jul-24 04:55:29

It probably has, MissA. It must feel like having a tooth out after the past few months.

OldFrill Fri 05-Jul-24 04:55:01

MissAdventure

Nicola looks worn out.
I think she is flagging a bit.

I imagine the last place she wants to be right now is on the telly.

MissAdventure Fri 05-Jul-24 04:53:59

It just occurred to me that he looked somewhat relieved,as if a weight had been lifted.

MissAdventure Fri 05-Jul-24 04:52:42

He was very gracious,I thought

MissAdventure

Sunak was very reasonable.

I thought so too.

How people can look so calm, when chaos reigns, is always beyond me.

Casdon Fri 05-Jul-24 04:49:46

Crossed post again! I also just saw Therese Coffey has gone

MissAdventure Fri 05-Jul-24 04:48:24

Nicola looks worn out.
I think she is flagging a bit.

Casdon Fri 05-Jul-24 04:47:28

Jeremy Hunt also clings on. He looks rough as.

MissAdventure Fri 05-Jul-24 04:45:15

Sunak was very reasonable.

MayBee70 Fri 05-Jul-24 04:43:32

Hunt holds. Maybe he’ll be next leader? The lesser of many evils. What will Sunak do now? He’s said he’d stay for the next 5 years. I bet he wishes he’d lost because then he could have just gone to America.
