I shouldn't have drunk the wine so quickly. But have have now made toast.

Doodledog Thu 04-Jul-24 23:57:00

I have an uncharacteristic glass of wine and a strawberry meringue, which was all I could find in the fridge that would give me a dopamine hit grin. I considered salad and things that needed to be cooked, but went for sugar and alcohol. It feels worth it.

(I could go for mushrooms on toast though. . .)

What are everyone's preferred election night snacks? DH and I have just had mushrooms on toast. Later I will have mini cheddars and DH has cheese straws.

Sunderland and Blyth. I'm not at all surprised. It's echoing the Brexit vote. NE still hasn't had any benefit, still 'left behind'.

I think (and hope) that that explains the results. I also hope that something is done to reverse the swing to the Far Right. I agree that those areas are 'left behind' and someone needs to speak to the people there who are Old Labour, of the rather sexist and racist persuasion (and let's not pretend that the Left doesn't have a fair share of people who think that way). I may not share their outlook, but they are not basically fascist - they are politically homeless and want to protest about being patronised and ignored.

DH has got the tv control and we are on BBC. Useless!

Leadsome (so) on bbc said Tory’s are ‘the natural party of government. That arrogance is part of the problem.

What does that even mean?

Clearly the electorate don't agree with her anyway - whatever it means.

True, commentator says was expected in Sunderland.

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 04-Jul-24 23:38:30

Nadine Dorries and Anne Widdecombe are giving me indigestion.

Wyllow3 Thu 04-Jul-24 23:38:21

Predicted, but Reform....I know, not good.

Tory commentator ""We've not been Conservative Enough...all this woke stuff....(?) ...we've not been normal enough....well have to regroup...we'll see people coming back to us....

The numbers voting reform are worrying.

keepingquiet Thu 04-Jul-24 23:35:55

Reform, protest vote

Doodledog Thu 04-Jul-24 23:35:24

Oh, here's Blyth and Ashington. They are a new constituency now, but Conservatives took Blyth last time and Lavery had a low majority in Wansbeck. Labour is in. Two out of two so far, but neither constituency is particularly representative, I don't think. Reform is in second place again.

merlotgran Thu 04-Jul-24 23:34:27

Bloody Hell! Reform in Blyth in second place.

Mamardoit Thu 04-Jul-24 23:33:59

Blyth and ashington...Reform second again.

Doodledog Thu 04-Jul-24 23:33:20

I'm just getting started. I can't be awake all night, but I have an hour or two in me I think grin Keep going, merlotgran? I can offer you a glass of wine and a meringue?

Dickens Thu 04-Jul-24 23:32:52

The Sunderland result is worrying. I'm pleased that Labour won, but Reform as second place is scary.

I'm on Ch4 in bed. Is this the thread for the hardcore watchers? grin

I think so!

I’m not sure how much longer I’ll last! 😂

I’m watching Ch 4 but flicking around a bit, because Nadine Norris is driving me mad.

🤣🤣

rafichagran Thu 04-Jul-24 23:18:12

Reform up 13. 4 Conservative down 19.2. The reform result is worrying.

Mamardoit Thu 04-Jul-24 23:17:39

The Labour win was expected. But the number for reform. Is that high?

Mamardoit Thu 04-Jul-24 23:14:51

Sunderland....reform!

maddyone Thu 04-Jul-24 23:10:23

I’d planned to watch the exit polls, go to bed and switch back on about 3 am . I’m not feeling like switching the tv off - it’s exciting

Get the matchsticks ready Iam to prop your eyelids open. And don’t drink any wine, it’ll knock you out.
