For those feeling nervous over the governments competence and who believe the propaganda put out by the right wing media, I thought I would start recording the day by day development of the governments activity.
Day 1
The PM appointed the cabinet, and was briefed by the permanent secretary.
The PM gave advice over urgent domestic issues needing immediate attention, as well as urgent security matters.
The Prime Minister signed off letters to the heads of the military, giving instructions over action in case of nuclear threat.
The Prime Minister will begin preparations for his NATO visit to Washington next week.
Sir Keir Starmer will have decided domestic issues over his living arrangements etc.
The Home Secretary -Yvette Cooper - killed the Rwanda plan. However it was disclosed by the Home Office that there was in fact no such plan in operation - no work had been carried out on any plan for months. So my goodness - was that one of the last lies told to the public by the previous government?
This formed part of the manifesto, and it is what people voted on.
Those who did not vote for Labour, will obviously be critical of its policies - but I’m afraid that it is what the country wanted, and it is what Labour is carrying out.
Day 6 and we are being thrown to the wolves, at the mercy of dictator states. The energy plans from Ed Miliband will cost us all very dearly

I truly despair. What is to happen to those who depend on oil or gas for heating and cooking, who drive cars powered by petrol or diesel?
Energy
“The new government will need to decide whether or not to cancel the process, which could end up granting a small number of new North Sea licences in breach of its pledge to end new oil and gas exploration.
But cancelling the mechanism, which is run by the industry regulator, the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA), could leave the new government vulnerable to a volley of legal actions from the companies, which may have spent millions preparing their bids.
The government is expected to take legal advice on how to implement its North Sea policy, without risking a legal challenge from oil and gas companies, before taking a final decision on the live licensing round.
Labour spokesman says “this is all complete fabrication”.
I am all for renewables, but lessons have to be learnt from the Russia - Ukraine war, the U.K. has to be energy secure.
Milliband’s take:
“ We will not issue new licences to explore new fields because they will not take a penny off bills, cannot make us energy secure, and will only accelerate the worsening climate crisis. In addition, we will not grant new coal licences and will ban fracking for good."
Best hold onto our hats then it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Well so long as everyone, including those who are just about managing, are happily prepared to pay a lot more for their energy.
And the water companies have said that if they’re to implement the changes the government have suggested, that we will all be paying 20% more for our water. I’ll be pleased to pay more if the water companies clean their act up, but will the just about managing?

Is Milliband bonkers or what? We're not going to use UK oil and gas but import from around the world. This is just madness.
It doesn't count if you import it as imported gas and oil don't produce emissions or contribute to climate change.

Mixed day so far - not too sure what Ed Milliband is proposing and if it’s legal? Some upset with Ben Habib in Reform. At least the weather is improving.
How reassuring that Steve Reed has said what I have said so many times, to much derision and disagreement, that nationalising any water company would cost billions. I hope all those who have insisted it would cost hardly anything if a company is deeply in debt take note.
Work and Pensions
Liz Kendall has said that Rising levels of worklessness are "unacceptable" and require "immediate action".
Liz Kendall is proposing several measures including a new national jobs and careers service to tackle record youth unemployment and rising numbers of those out of work due to long-term sickness.
On her first ministerial tour as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Ms Kendall will also announce a more localised approach to upskill those out of work and tackle the root causes of unemployment.
Economic inactivity is holding Britain back," Ms Kendall said. “It’s not good enough that the UK is the only G7 country with employment not back to pre-pandemic levels".
The Recruitment and Employment Federation, which represents the recruitment sector, said the new government's "early start" on reducing joblessness was "vital".
Environment
Environment Secretary Steve Reed, he says nationalising any of the water companies "would cost billions of pounds and take years potentially".
"I want to get to work quickly to clean up the unacceptable levels of pollution that are so outraging the public," he says, adding "nationalisation would slow that down and cost money we do not have."
"The best way to achieve our outcomes is to ensure there is tough regulation," saying he is delighted water companies agreed to his "initial measures".
I’m not convinced, but willing to see how this pans out.

As Siope says, the plane is the official government plane. It was used by Johnson, Truss & Sunak.
KS is accompanied by advisors and a ‘press pack’ who interview him during the flight. Chris Mason (BBC) is one of the journalists on the flight to the USA and writes about the PM’s workload during the flight. He’s hardly swanning about in the lap of luxury.

New data from NHS England shows hospital waiting lists rose in May, for the second month in a row.
An estimated 7.6 million treatments were waiting to be carried out at the end of May, relating to 6.38 million patients

There is always a dip in NHS performance in July and August due to senior staff holidays, which results in treatment waiting lists increasing. Performance will return to normal levels in September.
Isn't it July and August (and one particular date in August known as Black Wednesday) when junior doctors do their rotations?
The waiting lists here were speeded up before the election by staff working overtime; outpatient appointments on a Saturday, a Sunday, very early in the morning and late on a Friday evening.
The nurses at the hospital told me that they were trying to get patients out as quickly as possible after their operations because of the lack of availability of junior doctors, partly due to the strikes.
A&E and Minor Injuries Units are still over-filled, perhaps by people unable to get a GP appointment.
