*Emleten6*, you and I would do well to remove ourselves from this discussion. There is so much hatred on here for Trump that we are wasting our breath.
Some of the rhetoric used by Trump against his opponents equally matches what you call "hatred" on here.
His comment about the American war-dead when he cancelled his visit to the cemetery near Paris in 2018. "Suckers" and "losers". Oft used phrases of his when describing people for whom he has no liking or respect.
I won't list all the diatribes, or litanies, filled with very unpleasant comments from him - they are all there to be found if people care to look for them. Donald Trump is a very divisive personality.
So it's a bit rich to talk about hatred on here. Apart from the fact that discussions are bound to be heated on a P&N thread.
It's an easy cop out though - to accuse those who disagree with you of hatred, it completely avoids the need for reasoned argument and, by implication, makes all criticism of the person invalid.
I dislike Trump and all he stands for. But I do not hate him, and neither do I rejoice in the fact that an unstable lunatic tried to kill him. Hate is a very emotive feeling, and a very emotive word to use against those, like me, who are highly critical of the man.
Every politician of every stripe has to be accountable for his words and his actions. Donald Trump doesn't get a pass on this.
