I am watching the State Opening of Parliament and it has occurred to me yet again what a massive improvement he is on the egregious Laura Kuenssberg.
He speaks clearly with no apparent bias or personal axe to grind, he is well-prepared, knowledgeable, cheerful, often self deprecating and during the Election, apparently indefatigable.
And he seems such a nice person too!

We were saying the same thing during the election run up.

Wyllow3 Wed 17-Jul-24 11:28:16

He has been a pleasure to listen to.

AGAA4 Wed 17-Jul-24 11:32:02

Chris Mason. Definitely. ๐Ÿ‘

Jaxjacky Wed 17-Jul-24 11:35:26

I like Chris and Ros Atkins.

Reubenblue Wed 17-Jul-24 12:07:17

Totally agree, he makes the whole thing more palatable.

Another tick for Chris Mason. He has a good turn of phrase and often there is a glimmer of a smile when he is reporting. I think there is a cheeky schoolboy in there somewhere. A nice change from the stuffed shirt brigade.

๐Ÿ‘Itโ€™s a thumbs up for Chris Mason from me.

SueDoku Wed 17-Jul-24 14:13:41

I couldn't agree more..! He's interesting, knowledgeable, witty - and not overly and obviously biased (yes, Laura K, I'm looking at you..!!)

I really canโ€™t stand Laura K Iโ€™m afraid.

Tizliz Wed 17-Jul-24 14:19:05

Does he present Newscast?

Grandmadinosaur Wed 17-Jul-24 15:50:34

Thumbs up from me too.

Yes Sarnia he does have a cheeky schoolboy look about him!

Luckygirl3 Wed 17-Jul-24 15:57:31

I agree - good to see his approach. A good chap.

It took me a while to get used to his accent, but now I donโ€™t notice it so much, and enjoy his broadcasts.

I donโ€™t mind Laura, though.

JackyB Wed 17-Jul-24 16:08:06

He has always been a staple of Newscast (which is presented by Adam Fleming). I have listened to Newscast ever since it started when it was called Brexitcast back in the day.

Yes he has a great sense of humour.

DanniRae Wed 17-Jul-24 16:55:04

I was so pleased to read all the positive comments about Chris Mason because I feel the same way! smile

Thoroughly agree RosiesMaw - Nice, personable chap. A pleasant change.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 17-Jul-24 17:45:56

I donโ€™t really watch Laura K but I understand that the right and the left have accused her of bias!

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 17-Jul-24 17:46:46

I do like Chris Mason though. I love his slight lisp.

Gin Wed 17-Jul-24 18:05:17

Thoroughly agree. Laura always like to dig the knife in, Mr Mason is a gentle soul by comparison.

This morning at 9.30 I was listening to Radio4 and there was someone called Ronson talking from The Hay Festival. He spoke about interviewing techniques and had me cheering when he said you get a better response and a lot more information if you do not badger and bully people. Perhaps someone might tell Ms Keunsberg and the Today presenters this. Robin Day has much to answer for.

Grantanow Wed 17-Jul-24 18:12:27

I thought Robin Day and others like him moved TV on from the previous weak approach of 'Would you like to say a few words, Minister?'

Sar53 Wed 17-Jul-24 18:48:22

Another here who likes Chris Mason. I think he appeals more to 'the man or woman in the street'. Very down to earth and non bias.

Calendargirl Wed 17-Jul-24 18:50:12

Excellent reporting from Chris Mason. Love him .
