There's a clutch of headlines which hopefully indicate Biden my at last be re considering.

D Telegraph
"Biden’s supporters plot to fast-track nomination
Push to use ‘virtual’ vote to confirm president’s candidacy comes as he mistakes gender of his Secret Service chief"

Guardian "Joe Biden says he'd step down as presidential candidate if a 'medical condition emerged"

CNN "President Joe Biden is reportedly mulling a decision to step aside from the 2024 presidential race as a new poll has deepened a dilemma involving Vice President Kamala Harris.

On Wednesday evening, CNN's Jeff Zeleny reported that a senior Democratic adviser has said that the president, who was diagnosed with COVID earlier in the day, has become "more receptive" to calls for him to step down."

Hoping, as the USA needs a president who will actually engage with the world and the many more moderate voices in the USA.

Trump is worse Fudgemonkey

But it's still bonkers that neither the Republicans nor The Democrats have found someone else.

Trump. Because although we focus here to some extent on the personalities, we are looking at important policy differences in the big picture between the parties.

What policies Wyllow ?
Project 2025 ?
Don’t say policies without knowing what you are talking about .
I don’t want a decentralised government without checks and balances .
This is Trumps goal .

I can't decide who would be worse...Biden or Trump 🤔

Let me help you ; BIDEN
Maybe reread this thread for more hints about Traitor Trump .
Biden has a good productive team and a capable Vice President in Harris . If something happens to Biden that is our backup.
Trump will be at the behest of those whose belief system is Project 2025 .
His VP Vance was one of the architects and authors .
This will give the presidency the powers of a dictator . Do see Trumps support of Viktor Orban as well .

Project 2025 is extremely worrying. Unfortunately most Trump supporters and clearly many posters on here are totally ignorant of what it contains perhaps they should read it? Trump is dangerous and he's better organised this time round so if the Democrats stick with Biden , they'll definitely lose.

Project 2025 is a frightening read. Trump is out for revenge for the humiliation of not being re-elected on 2020, and some scary people are cashing in on this, literally.

This man funds JD Vance.

Yes be clever and good like Suelld. The problem is whilst I oppose Trump under no circumstances does the morality expressed here - judging how people react when shot, lying about the health of Biden reflect a morality I want to embrace.

Listen to his speeches properly URMSTONGRAN, where are the Policies? What is he going to actually DO about all the morass of things he complains about?
He tells Lies and exaggerates stats, he shouts about the Left are doing things oh so badly, he shouts retribution, then wanders off about electric boats and sharks, etc. He is going to bring peace to the world, stop the wars … HOW? He is going to save America…from what? Its economy is doing wonderfully overall, even if the average person is seeing rises in groceries etc, so are we all… prices rise. He is going to make more tax cuts ….that once again benefit the rich! Etc etc…please open your eyes Trump supporters and THINK, Fact check…oh and someone said he’s a believer…he isn’t, that’s another ploy to bring in all the varieties of Christians in the USA… there is one thing and one thing only Trump believes in - and that is TRUMP! Re Biden I believe he has human faults like most, but overall he does believe in Democracy and his record shows he has worked hard to undo all the harm Trump did in office. Trump is an Isolationist, but these days you can’t cut yourself off from what is happening in the rest of the world. Biden is a Globalist and realises that what happens in Ukraine, Russia, Israel, etc etc, has lasting effects on your own country…imagine Putin left to run riot, etc, Isreal left to complete the genocide of Gaza…all that affects the economy, trade, etc. Biden probably should be replaced ( I’d vote for Jamie Raskin, or Pete Buttigeig anyday) but if I were able to vote, I can’t I’m A Brit, I’d vote for a corpse over Trump all the time!

Bravo !
To those who doubt that Democrats can’t win, let’s not forget that the Trump supporters are loud and obvious but the Democrats are quiet but determined . We haven’t forgotten what TRAITOR Trump did on January 6 th!
The best is I CAN vote .

Oh I do hope so. Biden has been a good man, but I would hate to think that he would put himself before the country though.

I do hope that they don’t choose Harris though. I think that she is a none starter.

Agree with this ^ I cannot imagine what Biden will be like in 4 years time. He should be resting and enjoying hobbies.

mabon1 Sun 21-Jul-24 12:39:01

He's past his time, he's done a lot of good for America , nowt to do with his, he is clearly failing and for me he is an old narcissist. I sure don't want Trump though.

Similar cuts Education.

Populist leaders like Trump don’t really want the electorate to be educated, do they sad

Exactly…Trump isn’t educated, he has native cunning and little else. He also isn’t a good Speaker as the OP said, he’s a Performer, a Showman grifter who can sell you Snake oil!
There are educated rumours that his father paid someone to take his exams for him… I wouldn’t discount that!

An old narcissist.

Talking about TRUMP obviously!

knspol Sun 21-Jul-24 12:11:13

He's been clinging on past his sell by date for some time now. Perhaps he's getting bad advice from friends and family, I think he's putting self before country in not resigning. Trouble is if he resigns now then he's left it very late for his deputy or a. n. other to mount a substantial campaign.

Wyllow3 Sun 21-Jul-24 12:04:27

Yes, in the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, not close enough to US politics too ?? president, but Biden should step down.

Blinko Sun 21-Jul-24 12:01:31

Does anyone think the Democrats have any chance at all? Regardless of what Biden decides….

Lesley60 Sun 21-Jul-24 11:23:24

Whilst I agree Biden isn’t up to the job it means that psycho Trump will get in as there isn’t really anyone to oppose him

newnanny Sun 21-Jul-24 11:13:37

Biden has had his 4 years in the sun and needs to stand down on medical grounds. It's awful hearing him make more and more gaffs and people making fun of him. It's equally scary thinking he's the one making the big decision in the US. The longer he takes to leave the more likely the only option will be Harris as no time for anyone else to build support.

Wyllow3 Sun 21-Jul-24 10:57:11

None taken. Thought it was very funny myself.

LizzieDrip Sun 21-Jul-24 10:49:28

Ha, ha Wyllow that made me smile. Not only has Trump got God on his side, but the Pope as well grin

(No unkindness towards you intended)

Wyllow3 Sun 21-Jul-24 10:45:45

grin

Galaxy Sun 21-Jul-24 10:44:50

Not many things in the internet surprise me but for a few seconds the involvement of the Pope did grin

People not Pope!

Trump and Project 25?

“Trump also spoke highly about the group's plans at a dinner sponsored by the Heritage Foundation in April 2022, saying: “This is a great group, and they’re going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do and what your movement will do when the American people give us a colossal mandate to save America.”

There’s also a picture of him at the Heritage Foundation's President's Club meeting in Washington on Oct. 17, 2017.

(It goes on to point out the many connections in terms of the pope involved)

BBC News - Project 2025: A wish list for a Trump presidency, explained
www.bbc.com/news/articles/c977njnvq2do
I had to read up on Project 25 and found this simplified article . Trump is claiming no knowledge of it at the moment, but I could see him being attracted to the power it proposes for a president.
