There has never been a male spouse of a US PRESIDENT and if Kamala is nominated as candidate and elected , her husband would be known as FIRST GENTLEMAN … I wish her every success in the election as she will have to face off with bully boy Trump

Kamala Harris was very close to Willie Brown.

He helped her to get two influential positions in California.

There is lots of info on the internet.

Are you anti democratic as well, GG13.

Or are you spreading tales about Harris just for 'balance'?

Balance I imagine in GG13’s case. I find her to be measured in her responses. She likes fairnessand will often give the other POV. There is, of course, always one to consider! (Just that these threads are often an echo chamber 🤣).

I'd much rather have a response from GG13, Ug.

I'm afraid that your opinion doesn't interest me.

How rude.

It seems to be a feisty day.
It wont be deleted because of me Maizie I much prefer it all to stand.
And how tiring you find it doesnt interest me as you would say.

If people are giving "facts" such as the issue above about a politician please can they give it with a source? Look it up for ourselves.

Casdon Mon 22-Jul-24 18:58:10

I’d love that too Wyllow. I think it would take a lot of the heat out the discussions.

Iam64 Mon 22-Jul-24 19:00:19

Ah well, an outbreak of political discussion without grumpiness didn’t last long.
What’s the problem with urmston making a comment on a comment about gg13? I might have objected if urmston was making unfounded criticisms about GG13 but she was saying something positive - something I expect many of us would agree with
Apologies for my Pollyanna approach which will irritate I suppose

Ms Harris has since received endorsements from a series of high-profile Democrats, who may otherwise have challenged her for the nomination. They included the Democratic governors Gavin Newsom of California, JB Pritzker of Illinois, Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Andy Beshear of Kentucky, Wes Moore of Maryland and Tim Walz of Minnesota.

Mr Newsom said: “With our democracy at stake and our future on the line, no one is better to prosecute the case against Donald Trump’s dark vision and guide our country in a healthier direction than America’s vice-president, Kamala Harris.”

Ms Whitmer, who is co-chairman of Ms Harris’ campaign, said: “In Vice-President Harris, Michigan voters have a candidate they can count on to lower their costs, protect their freedoms, and build an economy that works for working people.

MaizieD you obviously missed my post of 16.22.08 🙈

I did miss it.

It still doesn't help me to understand why you felt you needed to post a bit of gossip about Harris's past. But let's leave it.

It isn’t gossip it is a fact, highlighted at the time, and again when she was appointed as VP.

Politics is a dirty business as you well now, their past is
there for all to see, even more so since the invention of the www.

Indeed, public life is dirty business.

We could all look to how the affairs of Princes, Princesses, Kings, Prime Ministers are reported and highlighted.

Current or former POTUS. No stone left without turning.

I doubt whether Trump would ever agree to debate Kamala Harris

Urmstongran Mon 22-Jul-24 20:20:58

You’re joking surely varian? He will relish it!
Actually isn’t a head-to-head mandatory there in the run up to election? 🤔🤔

Wyllow3 Mon 22-Jul-24 20:24:37

I'd like to see it!

Wyllow3 Mon 22-Jul-24 20:26:16

It would probably only be possible after the official adoption at the Democratic conference (Aug 17th) as atm she is VP?

Syracute Mon 22-Jul-24 20:38:57

LauraNorderr

Politically I am more a Republican than a Democrat but hope for the sake of the rest of the world that Kamala Harris or whoever is to replace Joe Biden kicks Trump in to the wilderness.
I really love your posts Urms, I don’t agree with many of your political views but love how you throw a little grenade in here and there and then sit back and enjoy.
Always polite, always self deprecating. Always make me smile.
Makes it all more entertaining for the rest of us.

I don’t find it entertaining I find those misinformed grenades based on NO FACTS dangerous.
It’s perverse, just like Trump.
I will be voting and I do NOT appreciate goady fake news.
It’s just a Trumpsky Traitor Train.
Just stop 🛑

Guarantee he will avoid as he knows he will be over his head.

Yes I’m sure you are correct. If Harris gets the nomination Trump will not debate with her.

Iam64 Mon 22-Jul-24 20:55:38

Debate between Kamala Harris and D Trump will be interesting. She’s very bright, was an excellent prosecutor, well able to challenge truculent individuals. Trump is a bully, he talks over people, stabs his finger and rambles incoherently.
He sneers at women and makes derogatory comments.

Wyllow3 Mon 22-Jul-24 21:12:07

I agree: the format of having. 5 mins to make coherent argument without interrupting (mute Botton on) or blustering would favour her.

Depends on who runs it too, all highly politicised and contested. I think agreed questions before hand.

Wyllow3 Mon 22-Jul-24 21:12:49

Button!

Siope Mon 22-Jul-24 21:13:24

I’ve been talking to some friends for whom Harris was Senator.

They say she was excellent, and people should look at her work there, rather than as a rather restricted VP, as a better indication of what kind of President she would make.

I think Trump would debate her. His ego is too big to let him believe she’d beat him. I hope the moderators stop him trying to physically intimidate her as he did Hillary Clinton.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 22-Jul-24 21:22:58

As someone just said

“it would be the prosecutor v the felon”

Rekarie Mon 22-Jul-24 21:30:24

I'm pretty sure Trump will engage in the debate. He would never want to appear weak, which he would do if he failed to appear.
