Oh you know a kick to the face which results in a broken nose, missing teeth etc. Not half getting up and talking immediately after. It was a shove with the foot and bearing in mind what had just gone before is it any wonder they found it imperative to keep him on the floor and get cuffs on him?

Either way the police didn’t start it and it wasn’t the police racially abusing her.

It isn’t speculation when it’s been widely reported that the mother has pointed out the passenger involved and the brothers have confronted him. Maybe they just wanted a quiet word in his ear. No idea why the police would have been called in

The BBC said that the initial incident began on the plane because the mother was subjected to racial abuse.

I was reading on the BBC news site that Manchester Police have a bad reputation, particularly as regards women.
In this airport incident we only see a segment of what went on but the kicking looked bad.DP says one mitigating factor after viewing footage is that the kick and the stamp look ‘light’ and if it hadn’t been, then the man on the ground wouldn’t have been raising his head and looking around moments later.
Guess we have to see what comes out in the wash.

The flight was coming from Doha in Qatar.

This is speculation. We don't yet know.

Absolutely, Wyllow, and as I said upthread, GMP have asked for witnesses to come forward so they can piece together the chain of events which appears to have started after the mother of the two young men was allegedly subject to verbal racial abuse and physical assault. One thing is certain. The airport will have extensive CCTV - but that won't capture sound and there may be blind spots.

There seems to be an attempt by some on this thread to find excuses for the attacks on the police. There also seems, to me, to be a thinly disguised attempt to put racism as the cause for it all.

One brother knocked the mother to the ground during his repeated punching of the police officer but it was claimed the police pushed her to the floor.

If these two had been white or even black they would have been charged and no doubt remanded but due to mob rule they haven’t even been charged.

It’s troubling to say the least.

There's a former police officer on X called Philip Priestley @PublicPriestley who has posted an excellent thread about police behaviour. It's long so I won't reproduce it all here but key points:

This has to be held to account. You might think that the man deserved it - him 'deserving it' isn't the officer's role. The role of a police officer has never been to decide who deserves to be kicked in the head or to kick anyone in the head under such circumstances.

If it is obvious from the footage that the officer had long enough to realise that the man was incapacitated, face down on the floor and not moving, his kick to the head and stamp becomes a potentially lethal use of force that was not required or justified.

Moreover it becomes a breach of the duty of care that police officers immediately owe to someone that they have incapacitated. Believe it or not, even under such circumstances, the officers must protect the man who has been tasered from further harm.

There is one thing that is critically important in policing and that is the personal restraint that is used by police officers in the heat of the moment. It is absolutely crucial. It might be the hardest test that an officer will ever face.

If anyone is thinking that the more recent footage clears everything up - they need to appreciate the complexity of this. This is one of the most severe and public cases of use of force that we have seen in recent times. It's not just about being pro or anti police.

After viewing all the available footage online, the violence of those two brothers towards the police is awful, they didn’t care that they were attacking police officers and punched them repeatedly to the ground, really shocking.I dread to think what would have happened if they hadn’t managed to taser them.
Now they’re using the racist card against the police! Hello! Nothing to do with race any white brothers using that amount of violence to the police would be treated the same.

I’m relieved Andy Burnham our mayor and the Labour MP for Rochdale were so measured in their initial responses to the release of the first video. They’d obviously seen additional footage so whilst not defending the disturbing image of the police officer kicking and stamping, they were aware of the build up.
Imagine how much worse this could be if Galloway was the MP, no didn’t inflaming the community as did when the news broke.

I’ve seen the newly released footage. What possessed these brothers to react towards the police so violently? No one can defend the kicking and stamping but the earlier fighting does go some way to explaining why the young officer lost control of his temper.

I am sure that police officer bitterly regrets losing his cool but in the heat of the moment, seeing his colleagues attacked, he let his emotions take charge and forgot correct procedures. He should not have done that, of course.

In some countries the police response would have been much stronger. On the whole we must be thankful for the type of policing we have in this country.

Please check what I wrote, which was that they didn't look threatening before they were approached by police. No, that office didn't just tap him with his foot. He behaved inappropriately and I'm sure that isn't how he was trained to respond.

The one in grey, who was the first to attack the officers, was sitting on a chair with his hands behind his head - he wasn't threatening anybody at that stage.

Hopefully, all the clips will be viewed in detail and justice can be done.

According to news reports, I understand there had already been an altercation on the plane, which is probably why the police approached them after they disembarked.

Wylow, do you think it reasonable to attack the police like they did it's a wonder the police woman wasn't killed. I don't. Now the truth is coming out.
