This brand of far right is organised very differently from traditional politics, but that doesnt mean they dont exist!

One thing that’s been bothering me is mask or balaclava wearing by those involved in protest marches, but particularly those involved in the riots we’ve seen recently

It said on the news last night that some of the protesters in London had t shirts with pictures of the murdered children on them .

Many of the attacks chants and slogan t shirts have been racist.

I think Starmer is announcing it now after a number of build up events that have reached a critical point... the rioting on Tuesday night in Southport was followed up by the riot in London (and some other cities) on Wednesday.

That critical point is a recognition of what the police face, and guidelines and agreements across different forces. Hopefully it will help situations like at Harehill for the police.

I think term "Racist' is still very much needed, although people shouldn't just use it without qualifying what they mean by it, just as terms like right or left wing need qualifying.

For example, the attack on the mosque in the riot on Tuesday night was racist.

Are you suggesting Starmer is getting tough on the riots aimed at the Muslim community and immigrants. That he deliberately avoided getting tough on the rioters in Leeds? I may have misunderstood your post.

I’m relieved the PM met with police chiefs today and hope we see police officers more able to protect themselves (and the dogs ) from thugs fuelled on alcohol rage and who knows what else

As with everything else it all depends on where you source your information. Approximately 30 minutes ago I listened to an expert on integration speaking about this and he said he understands the EDL doesn’t have a website and as far he knows it doesn’t really exist as an organisation. That’s not to say these rioters aren’t despicable and I will not tolerate being accused of supporting them.

People need to wake up to lazy, inaccurate reporting and then come on here repeating it.

If anyone uses the term far right these days I go and read up about the person they are labelling. It's a term like nazi and culture war which has been rendered meaningless.

The disorder in Southport was the second gathering linked to far-right activity in the space of less than a week, after tens of thousands of supporters of activist and English Defense League founder Tommy Robinson filled Trafalgar Square in London Saturday.

That takes quite high levels of organisation/communication.
