I know there's a thread in Sport about the games but think this deserves it's own thread.

Algerian TW boxer Imane Khelif landed a huge right hand on the Italian female competitor, forcing her to quit after just 46 seconds into the bout.

The simple truth is that there are other reasons women may quote naturally have higher testosterone levels than average, including some medical issues, Polystic Ovary Syndrome is just one and there are others.

Khelif’s biological profile presents a nuanced situation. Born female and identifying as a woman, she appears to have a condition known as differences of sex development (DSD). This condition would explain her XY chromosomes and higher testosterone levels — traits typically associated with male athletes.

There is absolutely nothing nuanced about it. The DSD 5ARD is only ever present in males, those with XY chromosomes. Someone with 5ARD is not a female, never was a female and never will be female. All DSDs are sex specific and only ever present in one of the sexes. It is hard on those who were mis-sexed at birth, but that doesn't excuse or give reason to cheat and disadvantage competitors.

It doesn't matter how often the truth is denied it persists in being the truth.

I dont think they are transgender. I stated so earlier in the thread. I think probably they have a dsd.

It’s absolutely awful of any of us (& I know you didn’t) to accuse these women of things which could put them at high risk in their own countries where it might still be illegal to be either gay or transgender.

Many of you on here talk about “safe women spaces”. These are women.

Shame on you!

They ain't women at all

Contrary to widespread belief, Khelif is not a male nor a transgender athlete; she was assigned female at birth. This classification hinges on the external genitalia observed at birth and is officially noted on the birth certificate.

I dont know what you mean about posted all the way through to the end.

I meant I have read both articles I posted links to all the way through to the end.

Why do you think these two women are transgender? There’s zero evidence that they are!

The IBO has released a statement saying it wasnt to do with testosterone levels.
If women have been subjected to years of people saying men can be women then it's no surprise that they are suspicious of organisations.
People have lied consistently about who is a woman, why on earth would anyone believe claims about sex now.

Have you actually read that article.

I’ve read both the articles I’ve posted all the way through to the end, have you?

I would like to point out that nowhere has this competitor identified as transgender and she was born a female and is female in her passport . These are the facts .

Well said!

It’s a shame that if the athletes in contention with a transgender couldn’t take a stand and refuse. It’s really so unjust and wrong of the Olympic committee to have allowed this travesty.

Those two are not transgender!

There’s a massive dispute about the DNA results and it’s been proven this boxer was born a biological female, grew up as female and is biologically female.

Cossy Fri 02-Aug-24 18:11:13

She (SHE) is a biological woman who was tested and showed high levels of testosterone, which can occur naturally. The Olympic Committee cleared both her and another female boxer to compete.

I agree.

The second male boxer competing in the women’s boxing has won his match.

From your quote:

iocmedia made male violence into an Olympic Sport

I would say the IOC has legitimised violence and the abuse of women by men.

The fact that neither Khelif or Yu-ting appealed the IBA decision or the DNA test results says it all.

I said the same thing up thread, but I've since read Khelif did initially appeal then retracted. Yu-ting never appealed. If you know what the result of an appeal will confirm it makes sense.
