I know there's a thread in Sport about the games but think this deserves it's own thread.

Algerian TW boxer Imane Khelif landed a huge right hand on the Italian female competitor, forcing her to quit after just 46 seconds into the bout.

I must have been very gently reared, but I need to know ..... do these trans women still have their male genitalia?
This is a serious question

If they have gone through male puberty they are still male.

In their DNA from conception but male puberty, producing testosterone resulting in bigger, stronger bodies and muscles than girls.

This requires all female sportswomen of every sport to turn their backs on these 'transwomen' and refuse to compete. The audience should do the same. This is every bit as huge and important as the suffragette movement and people need to realise that. It may mean losing their chance to compete but it's much more important than one event.

Lisa nandy has enabled this. She was one of the key players supporting men in womens prisons.

This has nothing to do with the IOC over which Nandy has no control.

I was always led to believe boxers had to fight in the same weight category, maybe they should change it to muscle mass? This is a disgrace by anyone's rules.

- so they DO?

If you can't read the caption in red it says:

Male Violence Against Women Should Not Be A Bloody Olympic Sport

Not to me it doesn't! I suspect most Grans understand what I mean by it.

JaneJudge Thu 01-Aug-24 15:31:51

be careful Aveline 'sick' means something good/cool/impressive now

Bridie22 Thu 01-Aug-24 15:30:52

That's not competitive boxing, it's assault!!

Aveline Thu 01-Aug-24 15:30:01

It's just sick cheating. What is wrong with the IOC? Are they blind or stupid? Why can't they see what we all see?

Urmstongran Thu 01-Aug-24 15:29:36

Yet Lisa Nandy says ‘it’s up to independent sports bodies to decide on acceptability’. Tosh. Wriggling out of the awkward debate. It ought to be a blanket ban.

It feels like organised violence against women. I’ve had ‘domestic abuse’ as an ear worm. In domestic abuse it’s acknowledged that men are physically stronger..
How did we get here and as BlueBelle says what to do

Urmstongran Thu 01-Aug-24 15:25:20

I’m not against trans (aka fake, it helps me remember) women. Their body, their mind, their choice. But in sport competing against women for a MEDAL AT ANY PRICE? No way, José. They should take up learning to play the violin or competitive chess etc when they get their ‘realignments’ done.

Galaxy Thu 01-Aug-24 15:25:19

Boycott all those who enable this Male violence. I will never watch the Olympics again. I view the BBC as laughable. This danger is not just to women, it's an undermining of faith in organisations.

Excuse typos.

I have said in another thread I am against segregating thing into male and female unless it really matters and boxing is something where it really really matters.

Of course it really matters! It might not until the agd of about 10 before puberty, but after that, yes, it makes a difference.

Cycling, running, jumping, swimming?

The only sport where it may not matter is equestrian sports where there relationship between powerful horse and ride is what counts.

David49 Thu 01-Aug-24 15:23:43

I wonder it the next opponent will stand and fight or just walk out?.

JaneJudge Thu 01-Aug-24 15:23:41

They are being let down by the people who are supposed to represent them

So what can we do apart from discuss it ?

Let the women athletes know we support them.

The IOC should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to go ahead.
This decision is positively dangerous and it was never going to be a fair competition.

Boxing is not something I'd normally watch but we did watch a little of one match where a competitor whose family we know was declared the loser even though she was clearly in the lead and her competitor had received a penalty.

Even the experienced commentators were bewildered st the result.
There were many boos in the crowd as this decision.
