Well we wouldnt discuss anyones opinion then. What does it matter what anyone says.
Of course labour were voted in, so were the Tories, people are free to comment on the approach of any political party.
Small things that make you feel happy
Someone mentioned Paul Embery on a thread this week but I can’t find it now. He is an author and Trade Unionist. He was discussing the overuse of the term FarRight.
Tonight he was on TV and he said “ I detect very little goodwill for Starmer and this Government. I say that as a Labour member of 30 years. This is very unlike the public mood in 1997. It does not bode well.”
That really surprised me as I have been watching him for the last year or so and he is Labour through and through and I have never heard him say anything negative about them.

Well I think this is totally irrelevant!
In 1997 I (as a left-leaning voter) I thought we'd elected a Tory when the Blair government came in. I didn't find the public mood in 1997 was SO upbeat - just relief!
My own circle had no enthusiasm for that government but they still did some good/great and worthwhile things.
Does it really matter what one man says?
The Labour government was voted into power by the electorate.
I know I havent seen Glorianny for a while, hope she is ok.
I don't think there is 2 tier policing, it's just a meme created by the Far right to try and throw oil onto the fire. Our poor police -trying their best in a whole number of different situations.
A good example of this is the Southend machete situation.
Police did take action, its wasn't ignored as you seem to suggest.
Essex Police said eight people were arrested and seven weapons seized during the incident on Tuesday evening
Appropriate response!

It's well established that the 73 year old woman was part of the demonstration. She said, "I'm here for the children" ie the Southport children, although why being in London as part of a riot helps the families of the murderers - who have asked for an end to the violence - is a mystery for me.
The Gaza marches are complex. They are mostly peaceful protests with some who disrupt with extreme views.
They are not mass riots echo as we are seeing at the moment. I certainly think the police should intervene strongly where necessary but the right to march peacefully remains.

^Machete mobs abound" is again quite a longstanding problem of knife carrying in the UK, nothing recent about it, nor specific to any particular racial group. This is a social problem governments have been trying to address, again, for some time.^
Talk about burying your head in the sand !
The knife carrying by gangs and individuals have been recognised as one of the most important crime issues for some time - no burying head in sand here.
There hasn't been a sudden explosion of it in the last 3 weeks.
Its arrived on Tice's list for no reason except to try to inflame and scare in the current situation. The last government were as concerned about it as the current one.

The machete mobs comments were probably arising from the events in Southend this week, where a number of (maybe about 6/7) people were filmed running around the seafront swinging machetes around wildly.

^Where is Glorrianny?🎱^
Haven’t seen her post for ages.
Maybe she is here in another different guise.
I wondered that tickingbird.
Oh dear, perhaps I’d better avoid airports then.
Seriously, I had no idea there was so much violence in airports. I’ve never seen any - yet.

Tice and Farage both stoke the fires, but neither of them have offered solutions. These incidents are taking the police away on a massive scale from their normal duties and we are all the worst for it
Tice's "list" conflates a number of totally different sorts of incidents
The "lone wolf" attacks of the soldier and the children in Southport and these sort of attacks have regrettably been occurring for some time.

The crimes at Manchester airport were extreme but the incidence of crime in airports is very high - see this report from 2023 which catalogues crimes in airports in 2022. 555 people committed violent crimes agains people in this year.

Dear god it appears now that even Ash Sarkar is being to agree. If I end up on the left I will have some apologising to do to Glorianny.

All the high ranking ex-police officers I have listened to these past couple of days, including one just on Sky, can’t speak highly enough of Starmer.
He clearly has the confidence of the police, and he clearly is giving the police his full support.
This is the situation as it should be at times like this.Maybe it’s because 99% of the city mayors are Labour? Birds of a feather and all that.
Actually I don’t care really - whatever works is fine by me.urms you’ve mis-read it😄😄
I was talking about high ranking (chief Constable, head of anti-terrorist ) not mayors
Oops! Yes Whitewave I had misread it! My head must have been full of elegant white daffodils still! 😁😁
Chief Constables, not mayors. Duh!

I'm puzzled.
Is Embery being held up as the only person in Labour who understands poverty and class?
No, populist twaddle!
So, as Tice is now an MP, it’s legitimate to expect him to have an answer to all these issues he’s identified.
NiceNanny how does Tice suggest the government handles the violent, racist mobs currently attacking UK towns, the police and places of worship? Perhaps, as he’s so ‘in touch’ with them, he could appeal for calm, instead of stoking the violence.
Some people do take what is said at such a superficial level, which always surprises me. My father in law’s favourite expression was Time spent in reconnaissance is seldom wasted, which is so true.
No the truth.
As I said populist twaddle.
Populist twaddle
Hear, hear WW. You put it much more politely than the comment I had in my head - which wasn’t suitable for GN!
