Looks dreadful. I do feel every day is getting worse and this is just the start of it.

It appears that Urmstongran is playing some sort of wind-up game today - to which only she knows the rules🤷‍♀️

I’m glad she finds this current situation funnyconfused

LizzieDrip Sat 03-Aug-24 16:05:37

Exactly Jacjacky ‘there are no words’.

And I’m sure, if one of the rioters gets injured, they’ll expect treatment from a practitioner of foreign origin - even though they’d just been protesting about them😡

Did you see one of the Sunderland crowd with the placard
NANS AGAINST NAZIS. I like it.

Yes I did, great stuff!

Urmstongran

Apparently he keeps asking questions on Twitter/X!

I was interested in this statement so I have just checked, nope no questions being asked at all.

There are problems with posting misinformation as regards the credibility of future posts.

Posts that begin with "apparently" and no web ref given - mistakes or wind ups?

I’ve just read this:
Silence in medical handover at Blackpool Vic this morning as we are advised to promote "admission avoidance" due to riots planned to take place later today. Large majority of the hospital on-call team are immigrants with a large proportion of Muslim background. No words, really.

So if one of those thugs get injured will they refuse medical help here?

Was that a serious question, Jaxjacky.

I can't see that any medical help would be refused?

I think that many NHS workers are fully accustomed to being on the receiving end of racism. It has been happening for decades.

What an odd question to ask hmm

😡😡😡😡

It's this kind of news that should set people thinking before they promote divisiveness and tell us we are living in cloud cuckoo land.

As you say, no words.
And this is in a town where people take their children for a summer holiday and the citizens try to earn a living by welcoming visitors.

Not true.

My roots are German Jews and Saxons.
My great grandfather fled a pogram in the 1880's.
Immigration doesn't particularly worry me but concede (and hereI agree with Tony Blair) it must be managed to make the general public happier.

And yet. All is NOT sweetness and light - however much we wish it were so. Starmer’s 2 tier police response to the anti immigration protests shows he is terrified. He knows only 20% of the people voted for him. 80% of the population didn’t vote for him. At least we thought (well, I did) that the Conservatives might eventually do something to reduce immigration. Labour have just thrown the door wide open with fast track processing, cancelling Rwanda and sucking up to the EU. I feel sorry for Police on the front line of this but Labour have thrown them under this bus.

It’s not wind up Wednesday today Urmstongran - you’re sussed.

Wyllow3 Sat 03-Aug-24 14:17:09

Repeating "two tier" system doesn't hack it.

No proof.

It's a way to encourage divisiveness.

There is no evidence whatsoever the police have been thrown under a bus.

No proof.

Quite the opposite: Starmer is currently engaging with them to form strategies across forces nationally.

Saying it, doesnt make it so.

^He knows only 20% of the people voted for him^

I’m not sure where you got this figure from Urmstongran but it’s incorrect.

Labour received 33.7% of the vote share in the 2024 General Election: ^Full Fact^

At least he didn’t do a deal with UKIP/Reform to get elected…

Starmer is not terrified. What makes you say that? He’s had years of dealing with difficult situations and is far more ruthless than many people realise.

Multi-culturalism alive and well in our community and family

In ours too WW, and so much richer for it too!

When my nephew married an Indian woman we attended their Hindu wedding. It was the most magnificent event I’ve ever been to; her family are truly hospitable, kind and tolerant.

I agree with your earlier post as well WW, the UK is, on the whole, a tolerant, non-extremist country. Far right extremism won’t take hold here; no matter how hard some may try.

Millions of UK citizens manage to live peacefully in multicultural situations - neighbours, friends, work mates, students, carers. Why not foster this instead of incitement?

100% agreement from me

I bet many posters have neighbours whose origins are from other than the U.K.

I have neighbours either side.

One a young family both parents work for the NHS. The woman is from the U.K. a mental health nurse specialising in maternity, the chap is from Zimbabwe and works for NHS England in London.

The other neighbours are the woman who works for the foreign office, has a Scottish accent but whose origins are Indian, her husband of British origin runs his own business.

My soon to be granddaughter-in-law is of Egyptian origin.

My daughters brother in law is from Jamaica and works for the government high up in intelligence, lives in a very posh area in Sussex.

My husband’s grandmother originated from Spain.

I’m as far as I know entirely British.

Multi-culturalism alive and well in our community and family.

I am delighted and heartened to see Sunderland people out in force cleaning up their city.

The far right will never gain traction in the U.K. regardless of Robinsons, Farage’s and Bravermans best efforts.

This is just summer heatwave nonsense; isn't it the industrial fortnight holiday? These people have nothing better to do. They won't be doing this when the rain and the wind sets in again.

I agree, if it cools down and a load of rain, that’ll be the end of it.
