Well done to the police

This thread is clearly titled “Well done to the police” mabon1 which you must have seen.

👍🏻 Calli and Iam. This thread is a thank you to the police who dealt with the tragic death of three little girls and then all the forces that dealt with the disgraceful rioting that followed.

How about thanking the Royal Lifeboat men/women, who face perilous situations voluntarily, at all times of day and night for not one penny, each and every one of them deserves a medal.

I’m sure you’re right Maggiemaybe and word will get to the police via family. It’s evident on radio phone ins and msm interviews that there is a huge amount of goodwill and gratitude from the majority to the police.

My dad was a police officer from 1949-1982. We 3 daughters and his grandchildren remain police family. They’re the people running towards danger as we all run away. M

It is, Wyllow, but I’m sure other GNers like me, who are police family, will be passing on the message of this thread. And thank you all. It’s not often these days that police officers get any appreciation, and the vast majority do their level best to keep the rest of us safe.

My lot are seasoned old hands now, but they’re expecting a lot of resignations from younger officers who’ll have been badly affected by what they’ve had to deal with.

Shame we can't pass these comments on.

My husband was in the police, now retired, thankfully not front line-I would not have had a minutes peace if he had of been. They deserve every penny they earn & more 😊

& fire services of course, they must have been in the mix, putting out fires 🔥

Well done to your son Niochorio. An inspirational young man.

My son is due to graduate as a police officer later this month. This is a job he has wanted to do since he was a young child and we are so proud of him for all the effort he has put in. ‘ The world has gone mad Mum’ he said to me earlier this week and I agree. He is anxious, but as he says he has been well trained.

Also the the Muslim communities who have kindly given officers - human, dog and horse- food and drinks.

It must be heartening for them to see the perpetrators swiftly and appropriately dealth with.

I agree with most of the posters on here, and thank the police for their handling of the very difficult situations they have been in recently. I have no relatives who are in the police service, but can imagine what it must be like to have, say, a son or daughter on the front line and to fear for their life.

I know there have been cases of 'bad apples' recently, but I believe that, just like all other groups of people, the majority are good, honest and hardworking. They deserve our respect and thanks.

Worked in police service till retirement January- good to read how appreciative the public feel.. they need the recognition as it’s not an easy job at all.. feel very sad that some officer injuries are quite bad - DD had wanted to be a firearms officer- I’m relieved she changed career path but totally respect those on the Front Line 🙏

I'm just glad, Bea65, that our police have contained the rioting without bringing in armed police, and thankful how our police use arms very sparingly and appropriately.

If you follow TV reality policing shows, which I do occasionally, up and down the country at night yobs are out on the streets mainly drunk in city centres protecting the public, at the same time facing calls from problematic domestic incidents, people with severe MH problems, burglaries, drug related crime, some very serious....hats off to them.

There will always be selective editing by any group or interest if they think it will further a cause. No "side" or another is free from that!
The police warned, as regards the incident,

"Chief Constable of GMP Stephen Watson spoke to BBC Radio Manchester about the incident before the press conference was held.

He said he was "constrained" by what he could say, but acknowledge an IOPC probe and a criminal investigation into a "series of assaults" were both ongoing.

We live in a really complicated age, social media is really good at putting partial pictures into the public domain, and as a result people are quite swift to rush to judgement

"We just need to be balanced, and wait for all the facts to emerge, because the reality is, the public still don’t have the full facts.

There’s all sorts of imagery and all the rest of it that will be made available to the appropriate authorities at the appropriate time, but we don’t do this in the social media space
