And not just those on the streets, those working overtime probably through the nights to put together evidence and cases in order to prosecute. And working together to come up with a national strategy.

I sometimes wonder why anyone would choose that career in this day and age and conclude that the vast majority just want to make life better for us all.

Those riots were terrifying. I know it's a policeman's job but I have huge respect for what they do and they really are such brave people to be confronted with such vast crowds of mindless, angry thugs.

Particular thanks to the police dogs too, several have been seriously injured.

I read all leave is cancelled for two weeks.

I agree. I live in an area of London which was targeted. We were kept informed almost hourly online by the police which I thought was excellent. There were two local ram raids but little else.

A pity those jailed are only receiving sentences of 3 years. They will be out within 18 months or less.

I am also thinking of those police officers, who were attacked by a violent group in Manchester airport recently.
One of the officers was a woman who sustained a broken nose from these thugs.

I hope the policeman who was suspended will soon be reinstated, now a fuller picture of the events has emerged.
