Well we never had security guards in tea rooms, even in London. Obviously they felt it was necessary and it seems it was.

We can speculate all we like in our heads, but not here. The truth will out quite soon. I'm just amazed they have plastered the guy and his comments all over the media. Even where he works. Aren't we told not to do that because it might compromise the Police investigation?

According to the Met it’s not believed the victims knew the attacker.

They are saying 'not known to the victims' so it wasnt domestic violence.

How scared must that poor 11 year old child be feeling. (The adult as well).

I think it is good to have a broad view of things. What ever they may be.

It's quite hard to find facts about knife crime on the past.
It seems pretty low in the 60's from what I've read.

Of course we rely on the collection of statistics to be accurate.

As a Gran who is taking two GC up to London next week, this has given me goosebumps. I am now reconsidering.

Hats off to the rescuer who held down the attacker:

*Abdullah, 29, who works at TWG tea in Leicester Square, said he intervened to stop the attacker who had blood on his face and chest.
"I heard a scream and I just went outside and saw one guy had a knife," he explained.

"The moment I saw it I just jumped on that guy and grabbed his hand... and put him down on the floor and kicked the knife away from him."

Surely attacking women and children in the street is unusual, even in these days.

I suppose I generally think of knife crime as involving mostly young men.
