Donald Trump's lies

It is well established that Trump is a habitual liar but the right wing media in the US, especially broadcasters such as Fox News give him unlimited publicity and never challenge or fact check his lies.

Here is what we see when his spurious claims are actually fact checked.

The rumour that he is both mentally unstable and physically ill appear to be gaining ground.
Is that really fake tan - or a mask for advanced jaundice?
And as for his very latest screaming accusation that Harris is not only a Communist but has a laugh "like a crazy person"......well, takes one to know one.

Does he know how to formulate either domestic or foreign policy for the good of the US? Or is it going to be invented personal attacks on the opposition every day until Polling day?

Yeah, Trump - your Daddy's money helped you to avoid being drafted for Vietnam but it's a pity he didn't use it to buy you a brain and a moral compass......

Since Biden stepped down and Kamala stepped up, support for RFKjr has dropped considerably, and mostly among Democrats.

RFKjr, political moves to the right including on climate issues has alienated many voters draen to him for his green credentials

Trump is like a Stephen King baddie made flesh.
I really can’t believe he isn’t a fictional character. Is bizarre, quite bizarre.

I agree, and if it wasn’t so utterly terrifying, it would be funny

I think RFKjr is the wild card that will swing democrat votes away, as happened with Stein in 2016 and Perot in 1992.

A compilation that made me giggle and worry in equal amounts.

Trump's to lose.

Depending on which polls one reads. I read NYT, CNN, WSJ and Economist -- balanced view, in my opinion.

There are a few states that swing the elections. That has happened before as well, GWBush won stole through Florida.

Trump attempted to upend Georgia. Trump won against Hillary (higher popular vote) but turning the swing states. Inserted candidates siphoning Democrat votes, much as RFKjr is attempting now.

Harris-Walz are appealing to many different groups of people (women, gays, pro-abortion, left of center socialists, footballer fans, "white guys" (that group is oddly amusing), younger than 40s, etc.

The X POTUS appears to appeal to isolationists, anti-socialists, self made upper middle income - people who think they are like him.

Siope Sat 17-Aug-24 16:48:14

And ignore the typo. Trump is at 44% not 42%

Siope Sat 17-Aug-24 16:46:36

The polls I’m seeing are all within the margins of error. .Trump’s popularity is hovering around 44% which is a shade higher than it was at this point of the election campaign in both 2016 and 2020, which is concerning. Harris is now at 44.5% popularity and Trump at 42%

That’s an increase for both of them since May, but -and it’s a massive but - the large increase (about 8%) in Harris’s popularity is driven entirely by Democrats. And she is still disapproved of by 15% of Democrats (and that may be impossible to shift much, although she is spinning her prosecutor choices heavily) Eithet way, she needs to be moving swing voters, and if she is, it’s not showing meaningfully yet.

M0nica Sat 17-Aug-24 16:27:21

According to polls, Kamala Harris is doing well in the swing states, that can win or lose the presidency, and, while Trump has a core group of enthusiasts who beleive him right or wrong, there are not as many of them as there was before the last elelction and he is actively replelling many middle of the road and centre right voters.

Going back eight years I was utterly sickened when Hillary Clinton said that the only years Trump had disclosed his tax returns were when he had to to get a casino license. They showed he had paid NO federal tax.

Trump smugly responded "that makes me smart"

I did not know that Varian, now I dislike him even more, except thats not possible

Golly I'd forgotten the the shark attack and injecting ourselves with disinfectant.
As the banners say, he is weird, isn't he?

Cadeby Sat 17-Aug-24 14:07:17

Perhaps a couple of his fans on GN could pitch in?

Wyllow3 Sat 17-Aug-24 14:05:57

Yes, quite a few points put forward on that for a long time, but it doesn't seem to deter his followers, as yet.

spabbygirl Sat 17-Aug-24 13:51:51

lots of mental health professionals believe trump has mental health issues and have come together to enlighten the rest of the population.

In lots of American states Gilead is closer than people think. If trump is re-elected it will be appalling. Of course, if he isn’t 🙏 America will have to suffer the same shenanigans of ‘stollen’ election, fake news etc., etc. He is quite mad of course… and a felon.

Wyllow3 Sat 17-Aug-24 13:08:05

sorry, couldn't resist the classic "Shark Rant" (short Video)

Wyllow3 Sat 17-Aug-24 12:59:13

It's rather apposite: it originally came from a wheeled cart totally coming off its rails. (To be serious just for a moment, I try to avoid terms like "insane" as its often used in a pejorative way for people who for no fault of their own have serious MH issues)

There are so many U tube samples of off the trolley thinking, some really significant, but the one that sticks in my mind is where he is filmed recommending injecting disinfectant

At least I got a laugh over a very serious situation, Wyllow3 I hadn’t heard ‘off his trolley’ for about 50 years!

I use that expression often, & Trump is truly totally off his trolley!

Cossy Sat 17-Aug-24 12:41:50

I just read he may be suffering from PTSD and aging rapidly, whether that's true who knows. But just be careful what you wish for, because if he stands down then JD Vance will take his place, and he is very right wing and could be more dangerous than Trump.

What trauma has Trump experienced, other than the awful person trying to kill him? He was talking nonsense, behaving oddly and being very long strange long long ago. Remember Covid?

Grantanow Sat 17-Aug-24 10:31:18

Most of the time he's talking to his supporters for whom he can do no wrong. I hope he carries on doing that while Harris and Walz address potential supporters.

Wyllow3 Sat 17-Aug-24 10:15:14

I must admit I keep hoping he will eventually say or do something so clearly off his trolley that he loses at least the middle ground voters who "on balance" support him. But the millions and millions spent of TV ads that pick out the "Best" thrown at people day in day out have increased a cult following, and cults cannot bear to be disenchanted, they build their lives around "Belief" not opinions.
