Angela Rayner dancing whilst on holiday in Ibiza

Have to say this sounds like a non news story but it seems some are getting hot under the collar about it. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with a young woman like Angela enjoying a holiday in Ibiza and dancing in a nightclub. She wasn't doing anything wrong.
I like the fact that Angela is from a working class background in the North, the same as me, it makes her far more in touch with those who feel that politicians recently are on another planet. She also has fire in her belly and God forbid a love of life. Reminds me of a young Barbara Castle.
Keep on dancing Ang, but keep your smartest moves for those opposite you in the HoC.

I would rather have people running the country who are able to offer positive solutions to the problems and carefully worked out strategies on how they will achieve them than the eternal bad-mouthing of their predecessors.
Kier Starmer really is a disastrous communicator, reading- glasses or no. (I still don't understand why Lord Alli found it necessary to advance him quite quite such a large sum of money to refresh his wardrobe, or is that all Tory lies as well?)

What do people want truth or lies? Truth is, as a country we are rather broke, our public services are pretty awful and our tax bill is pretty high. One of the reasons we are a bit broke is that the govt is having to pay more for the borrowing, which is sky high at 99.4% of GDP partly due to the Lettuce! The US can have a debt that big because they have the dollar we can't so we have to do something to bring it down and redirect govt spending to where it is needed most to improve services for everyone and the lives of the most disadvantaged. If people understand that perhaps they don't see gloom and doom, they see responsible economic measures not a party trying to buy votes to stay in power. If people want quick results just think back to Truss and the damage she did in 49 days, I'd rather have a more measured response to the country's problems.

I don’t care if he needs glasses for everyday or not, but it’s what he does that matters.
On the whole this morning his interview with Laura Kuensberg went well, tho I was pleased to see that she mentioned when this 22billion black hole was trotted out yet again by him, that actually 9 billion of this was created by paying some public servants huge pay rises and it was a political choice to deprive pensioners like my own Mum of the WFA.
It wasn’t an inspiring interview but it was ok.Soon tho he is going to have to offer us more than gloom and doom.

Pork markets and Peppa Pig. Hiding in a fridge and Penny Mordaunt stating that the Prime Minister wasn't hiding under a desk. Statement like ? What short memories some have.

Sorry to disagree - I can’t bring myself to watch or hear Starmer’s interview this morning. This is exactly the same technique Putin is using to alienate his own people in Russia.

I had to turn him off as well. Not remotely captivating, interesting or inspiring. Loving the way he's said the NHS will use the private health sector. Does he not remember Tony Blair doing this? And the NHS has been using private facilities for over 30 years.

🤔

Why would Putin wish to alienate the Russian people?

Proof RosiesMaw2? Which bit is false? Starmer wore spectacles for work only until April is the inaccurate bit. The rest is true.

The Spectator wrote a column saying that up until April this year, Starmer didn’t wear glasses but Lord Alli bought him multiple pairs to change Starmer’s image. Apparently Starmer now looks wise, avuncular and prime ministerial. Oh dear……

False news of course, the Spectator should know better but it, and you, seem to be scraping the bottom of the proverbial

Come to think of it, there’s nothing that Starmer can do to pretend to be statesman like. Every time he opens his mouth, it gets worse. Such a pity that Lord Alli wasted his money. Should have offered basic communication skills course instead.

Oh , come off it! KS not the most inspirational of speakers but he can string words together, unlike the buffoon.

As a barrister he must have been able to string a few words together to make a coherent sentence. 🙂
Perhaps not in Ancient Greek or Latin but in intelligible English.

ronib he looks a darn sight more statesmanlike than one of his predecessors!
(I don't mean Rishi or even Liz)

Ye gods. It’s (again) not true. Here is Starmer, wearing glasses, in 2021.

The Spectator said
"Until about April this year, Sir Keir did not wear spectacles on public occasions."

Lord Alli - donated clothes and spectacles worth £20k to Keir Starmer. One donor.
Multiple benefits doubtless.

£20,000 for clothes and specs?

I somehow missed that. Why couldn't he go to Specsavers and M&S like everyone else?

Siope Sat 07-Sept-24 23:00:19

I recently heard a dead sarky song that the Young Farmers in Clarkson’s area of the Cotswolds sing about him. It’s to the tune of I’ve Got a Brand New Combine Harvester, and the politest line is about his tractor with the go-faster stripes. I gather he’s not terribly popular locally.

Sorry. Thought it must be time for another non sequitur. And more 🎼 🎶 🎵

Good for them, I say.
I wish my knees were up to it.
