Wow, we’re a couple of months in to a new government and shock horror it hasn’t fixed everything yet!!

Well we’re 8 years into Brexit but we must give it time….

Well said!

M0nica
Thanks for your post.

a) Labour aint perfect, but are you really suggesting that the shambolic, deeply corrupt, incompetent, shower who preceded them, would actually be any better?^

This chant goes on ad nauseam.
Where has anyone said or suggested that they would be better?
However, dismissing all CP MPs that way is sweeping and inaccurate, like saying all LP MPs are like the owner of the substandard flats.
I doubt anyone would defend Boris et al, but if you had a hard working local Conservative MP you would be sorry to exchange that for an MP of a different party.

However, the constant need to defend this government from any criticism on GN is weird and makes them appear weak.

The last election did not vote Labour in. It voted the Conservatives out, and for very good reason.

I agree, and the previous election voted Labour out after 13 years for very good reason.

b) For at least the first five years every new government blames their predecessor for everything that goes wrong. It is standard practice, everywhere.

Thank you. I have been saying that ever since the election. Hopefully, your statement will be acknowledged as the truth and won’t be greeted with immediate defence of the LP.

A good article from LK. Thank you @Mollygo.
Yes, I'm a bit sick of continually hearing about the mess inherited and the black hole now. It's getting tiresome. I think it was yesterday I heard Starmer applying it to the NHS again. The trouble is, it's now getting so boring and tedious to listen to as an opening party piece, that I switch off listening to any of the comments with real substance. 🥱

MOnica I agree with your point a) . What choice was there? More of the same, not after the past 14 years. None of the smaller parties were up to the job.

Irrelevant, but important comment warning ......

A new kitten for Starmer? Is Larry the cat banished, or even worse, then?

As I have said, ad nauseum< i have never voted for either of the main parties, but I think people have very short memories because:

a) Labour aint perfect, but are you really suggesting that the shambolic, deeply corrupt, incompetent, shower who preceded them, would actually be any better? The last election did not vote Labour in. It voted the Conservatives out, and for very good reason.

b) For at least the first five years every new government blames their predecessor for everything that goes wrong. It is standard practice, everywhere. Starmer et al are doing exacly what any change of government does in the UK, and for that matter every other country in the world. I expect even Putin uses the argument at times.

When I was working, whenever any one left the company I would always tell them, that for at least 6 months after they left they would be blamed for anything that went wrong.

Tuam There have never been any 'golden days', except when people look backwards - and some years from now people will look back and see now as the 'golden days'

Let's face it, the world is pretty knackered and so is our country. No one will be able to fix the mess. They may be able to appease the voters somewhat. Too much of one thing and too little of another. The golden days will never return and we can play the blame game as much as we want but everyone wants a slice of today's world be it Labour, Conservative, or whoever and unless we put something on the table how can we expect to take from it.

You have my respect Laura K. In fact I am pleased and surprised by your analysis. Don’t let up.

Lucky for us we don’t have a license, sure my friends who voted labour, who now wish they hadn’t have bothered, will have a grumble when they call for coffee & I’ll get to know all the ins & outs of what’s going on.

I don’t generally like Laura Kuenssberg, but her comment about the beginning of Starmer and this government’s term in office seems fairly accurate. And the heading at the top is true.
