I haven't seen the video but will suss it out. Having just gone through 11 months of cancer treatment myself (and still awaiting the scans to determine the results) I can honestly say that, apart from the initial delay in seeing an NHS consultant (whose team pulled out all the stops by working extra hours to reduce the backlog) I have had nothing but first-class treatment from the Christie NHS in Manchester and all those associated with it. Maybe I am lucky in being close to such an eminent cancer institute, but every member of staff from the cleaner upwards has been a star. Not just the medical care itself but the kindness and understanding, the timing of appointments to suit personal preferences, etc etc. I could not have had better treatment for any amount of money.
We don't know what Kate has been doing this year behind the scenes, but I do know for certain that she will not have been able to commit to public duties due to the total uncertainty as to how the therapy would affect her physically, never mind emotionally. I had days when I was in too much pain to do anything but feel sorry for myself, unable to eat or drink, throwing up and battling debilitating side-effects.
Of course many cancer sufferers have fewer options than those who are wealthy - family responsibilities for example - but for me trying to keep going with my usual activities was mentally essential as I felt I could easily sink into depression.
I don't care how wealthy or otherwise privileged Catherine is, a cancer diagnosis and treatment at her young age is devastating and having wealth does not diminish that.
I wish her all the very best.
