Sick of Starmer relentlessly using the words"difficult " & "painful"

Not the slightest bit concerned about Starmer not addressing the issues, because I have full faith that he will.

MissA well maybe you are the better person- at least you are not pretending to be someone you are not. Nothing wrong with growing from seeds - I find it very beneficial.

And I believe the last time PR was a 'thing' was at the LP Conferences in '21 and '22.

In 2023 he had what he described as a "longstanding view against proportional representation".

Though during the 2020 Labour leadership election he did say, "On electoral reform, we’ve got to address the fact that millions of people vote in safe seats and they feel their voice doesn’t count. That’s got to be addressed. We will never get full participation in our electoral system until we do that at every level."

They do indeed, depressing at times I find.Anything that gets them into power is good as far as they’re concerned, that goes for all political parties.

Well we do have a complete change of fortune from Sunak’s time don’t we? I often wondered where he was as he certainly wasn’t in the public eye every day. Sunak certainly didn’t worry pensioners - I don’t remember him seeing them as a potential money saving target…. Inflation had reduced from 11 percent down to a low level…. And just where are we now?

Cutting benefits for other people can't hurt that much, especially as it doesn't affect them personally.

That is why those in charge so often fob off the populace with false optimism and half-truths. If they tell the truth about how near to disaster we are and how difficult it will be to pull ourselves out of it, they would be sacked and a new bunch voted in.

I think what they subconsciously mean is that they are "sick of knowing that it is going to be "difficult " & "painful" to sort out the tangles that the country is in." Attacking the messenger is a well-known reaction to bad news, right back to antiquity. That is why those in charge so often fob off the populace with false optimism and half-truths.
