I read an article that pointed out that most countries have this black hole and it’s due to an aging population and a shrinking workforce . It will get worse!

I think it's going to take more than WFA , bus passes and TV licences to revive the economy! Hopefully free prescription aren't next! As for the increase in the OAP, the amount quoted for that only benefits those on new pensions. Those on the old system will benefit far less. While I accept that wealthy pensioners do not need, and should not be entitled to this payment or other benefits, it would seem that those of us, particularly the over 80's who are not wealthy, are increasingly being viewed a burden on the state. Too many of us, obviously not contributing to anything worthwhile any more, clogging up the NHS, taking up accommodation that could be better used elsewhere. Unfortunately, we can't die to order, although if we could I'm sure we would in order to be helpful, being so draconian to one particular section of society, the one least able to defend themselves does seem a little cruel.

I honestly think Starmer and his cronies want every single pensioner to die so they will no longer have to pay out pensions and benefits.

OAPs have had to forfeit their WFA. In the meantime, MPs can claim their utility bills, including gas, electricity, other fuel and water bills, on expenses at a single property, either in London or their constituency. Their is no upper limit to what they can claim. Hypocrites.

Not very good for a Shadow Chancellor to be so ignorant of the so called "black hole". Now she won't even release the details under the FofI request.
Yes it'll be hard for many pensioners this year, but the already well paid train drivers will not freeze will they. Include the MPs in that too.

But there is plenty of money to waste on Ukraine, foreign aid to such countries as India and Pakistan, the asylum system and foreigners galore. Charity begins at home.

Really? From what I've seen and heard, the average new pension is set to increase by £400 from next April; did I get that wrong? I hope so! As for claiming Pension Credit; many thousands of people are just slightly above the threshold of eligibility to claim that. I personally have only the new state pension to live on and that puts me £9 per week above the threshold to claim. I'm not alone in that.

I put a link yesterday, many people have been refused pension credit, so not that simple. Good to know well get an increase next year, as the basic rate won't be increased, many of us will pay a lot more tax,so no better off really.

The opposition party has full knowledge of the state of books so should/will have been aware of any potential "black hole" prior to the election. The fact that they nevertheless announced that all their proposals were fully funded shows their level of dishonesty and dissimulation. Show me an honest politico and I will show you a pig with wings.

WFA is a small first step and it was announced early to give warning I don’t think they could have done much else.
