Well?

School buses pass my house every day. Every pupil is staring at their phone, not disturbing others.

I know that car seats are not on buses growstuff but buses travel more slowly than taxis and I think offer a safer form of transport for young children. Plus of course it’s supposedly more environmentally friendly… do we save the planet or not?

growstuff for some reason completely unknown to anyone, teenagers are unable to get onto a bus in quite the same way as using a train. If screaming is avoided on entering the bus, extremely loud conversations or just noise are quite common on buses but not trains.
It makes me wonder why? What on earth are State schools doing to their pupils? Private schools usually run their own coaches and so members of the public are protected!
It has to be experienced in order to be understood. I think it’s very worrying to think this is in any way acceptable.

growstuff have you tried travelling on buses crowded with noisy teenagers recently? Preferably with a small child who is unwell.

Yes. I've also travelled on commuter trains full of schoolchildren.

MissAdventure so you are telling me that school children have made public travel a no go area and I should accept the feral state?
I don’t like using taxis with my grandson because he doesn’t have a proper car seat in a taxi….

I've never seen a car seat on a bus.

I've never suffered from feral schoolchildren on a bus either.

Allira Tue 24-Sept-24 20:43:37

We should campaign for bus conductors to be brought back.

MissAdventure Tue 24-Sept-24 20:40:34

I wouldn't dream of it.

ronib Tue 24-Sept-24 20:39:51

Please don’t trivialise my pain MissA

MissAdventure Tue 24-Sept-24 20:32:08

So stupid, I can't even spell 'stupid' grin

MissAdventure Tue 24-Sept-24 20:31:20

No, I'm too atupid.

ronib Tue 24-Sept-24 20:30:19

MissA and I hope you understand the answer….?

MissAdventure Tue 24-Sept-24 20:29:10

I'm not telling you anything like that, at all.
It was a question I asked.

Why not get a taxi, ronib?

ronib Tue 24-Sept-24 20:19:30

MissA missing the point.

I kind of wish there was an edit button at this moment in time... 😙

MissAdventure Tue 24-Sept-24 20:13:54

Never mind.
Once they stop pensioners bus passes it won't be so much of a problem..

Sorry, bad joke, I know.

eggplant most of the country is doing okay? I just wish that school children would not intimidate elderly people particularly with young grandchildren from using the buses in school hours. So what is not working seems to me is basic human politeness - it’s not too much to expect and people from other cultures have remarked on this too. It doesn’t cost anything either.

Errrmmm! Do you think this is a universal problem because I don't.

It won’t make much of a difference to us but I feel sorry for people on the cusp of receiving pension credit. On the other hand. I know I know of people who have paid nothing into the system who receive benefits , including , now the winter fuel payment whist my partner and I have been paying in for a total of almost 80 years. Doesn’t sound completely fair IMO.

Ah well! Who ever said life is fair? I got over that years ago .

netflixfan well for a trashed country, it’s definitely not looking third world to me …

Which bit of it do you think is working?

I know loads of people who love to tell I you that they don’t need the money and give the money to charities. It’s means tested not cancelled.
The tories were in government for 14 years and trashed the country. What did you expect?
