So this is the biggest gaff any PM has ever made.

Sausages…. hostages how?

I am old enough to remember Jack de Manio on Radio 4 saying that human life evolved from a single living orgasm. 😂

That must have been a good night grin

Who was it, historically, that referred to the "Queer old deane", instead of the dear old Queen?
Spooner?

I once told someone that I was going to an organ rectical. Since then I have been incapable of saying the word recital because by the time the word has gone from my brain to my mouth it has turned into rectical yet again.

Better than rectum tho at least😁

Rekarie is correct, it’s all over the news.

Rekarie Wed 25-Sept-24 12:32:52

Here's what you need to know from this morning:

"Sir Keir Starmer has revealed he took a £20,000 donation from Labour's Lord Alli to help his son study for his GCSEs;
The gift was listed as "accommodation" when the PM registered it, and he told the BBC it was somewhere for his son to revise "without being disturbed" during the election campaign;"

Is that factual enough for you Cossy"?

Rekarie Wed 25-Sept-24 12:27:22

Well Sky news seems to think he certainly did get 20 grand. Something to do with accommodation for him to study in peace. Starmer is a millionaire. I reckon he could have afforded that.

Look it up

I still fail to see how anyone could mistake sausages for hostages.

He's not a good speaker. As has been mentioned, Farage is excellent, but as has also been mentioned he doesn't always speak for many of us.

Just seen that the unions have voted against the removal of fuel allowance for pensioners, and Starmer took a £20.000 donation to help his son get GCSEs. Not sure why anyone would need 20 grand for this.

I get why ANY MP or PM from any side of the house is critiqued, especially around personal financial gains, even when within the “rules”

But please be factual, no money changed hands, Starmer was not paid £20,000 to get his child through his GCSEs

Anniebach Wed 25-Sept-24 12:20:26

Choosing to mock the PM off a gaffe when speaking of hostages in Gaza rather than the hostages , does make one think ?

Grannybags that’s because some GN posters appear determined to demonise KS for every single thing he does / says / doesn’t do / doesn’t say … and then criticise those of us who rebut their tittle tattle.

With the Middle East on the brink of full scale war, overnight KS has authorised the mobilisation of 700 troops to the region to evacuate British nationals.

But let’s not bother about that on GN … let’s go on and on about who bought his glasses, and take the p* out of him for a slip of the tongue in a speech.

FFS!

👏👏👏👏👏

It's quite a common thing.
Not unheard of for your brain to just put a word up, and your mouth to follow through.

I once told someone who asked that I was planning to wear a pair of sandwiches when we went out.

“Kier Starmer always speaks via an autocue. I know many don't take to Nigel Farage but he never uses one. He is confident in what he says and knows how to say it. Starmer is like a rabbit in the headlights most of the time and I suspect nerves got to him at the conference, hence stumbling over the word.
Yes. Thankfully in 5 years time Farage will be PM and he really understands the plight of poorer people. Or Badenoch who understands the working class because she ‘ once had a job at McDonalds’.“

Now that is funny!!

On what planet, and how, does Farage “understand poor people”?

He was born into wealth, made more cash prior to going into politics, is making shedloads from GB News, and I’m A Celeb, and he’d make the worst PM ever, as he has no sensible or workable or funded policies!

I totally disagree, he was a pretty successful lawyer and as such would be more than used to speaking out in front of people.

I don’t think it was nerves at all, simply a slip of the tongue, nothing more, nothing less.

I absolutely agree that he probably doesn’t love himself or the sound of his own voice, quite as much as Farage!

I simply found the gaffe amusing. My amusement in no way was a criticism of Starmer.
Folk do read too much from very little.

Ditto! It was both very unfortunate and highly amusing!

In my working life I presented regularly to audiences of all sizes and occasionally made idiotic gaffes, despite much preparation and seemingly endless confidence! It happens.

It doesn't stop Farage talking BS though.

He must be mortified today.
