So this is the biggest gaff any PM has ever made.

Sausages…. hostages how?

That's what we told my mum when we referred to her as Mrs. Overall.

It was one of the least funny things I've seen in my life, watching her suffer, and become bent and bowed, but laughing or not wasnt going to put anything right.

Laughing at the joke doesn't mean people find the hostage situation amusing, in any way.

Exactly.👍🏻

Bit blurry but it says Hostages.

Oh dear, this made me laugh so much. 🤣

Someone sent me a text to say …Never mind about sausages, what about mash migration . ( tee-hee!)

Oh the absolute hilarity.

Well, it is actually quite funny😁

How many Labour MP’s send their children to private schools ?

I don’t know but I would hazard a guess that the standards and OFSTED rating of their local comprehensive plays a part in their decision.

Not only for MPs, Labour or otherwise. The reasons for many parents sending children to private are varied, but are as you say. Many areas don't have a grammar school either, which takes away choice again. One size does not fit all.

Oh sorry Diplomat, I didn’t realise that a non-immediate reply denotes embarrassment’! It may, of course, be that I’m living a life🤷‍♀️

In answer to your question, I don’t know how many Labour MPs send their children to private schools. Perhaps, if you have those figures, you could enlighten me?

Regardless, like all UK citizens, it’s their choice and they will pay VAT on their fees.

I've never seen silence as a reply on gransnet.
I'd wait a little longer before you rest that case.

Okay LizzyDrip, explain to me why so many labour MPs send their children to private schools while adding VAT to penalise ordinary families and also trying to abolish grammar schools. Pull the ladder up!

Silence came the embarrassed reply. I rest my case.

MibsXX Thu 26-Sept-24 05:03:44

Agreed , it would be awful if he'd done it on purpose, did you not see the thread recently where folks offered up serious ( and funny) gaffes of their own? Isn't it great to be human!

He’s useless and not fit to be PM. Almost as bad as Lammy as foreign secretary.

Please explain why you think he's useless and any more useless than other MPs. What kind of criteria are you using?

Do they? Do you have any statistics on that?

Incidentally, many of the pupils in private schools would struggle in grammar schools. They're not the same at all.

Whenever I read shopfitter, I read it as shoplifter.

Rekarie

We had some hostages for our evening meal.

It really is an extremely odd slip of the tongue.

No, it isn't. Sausage and hostage have sounded alike to me since I was a little girl.

Anyone can make a slip of the tongue- For heaven's sake leave the man alone, can't you. More embarrassing slips of the tongue have been made before now, and good manners surely should make us ignore them.

One prominent person I can think of once said testicles instead of textiles - we are all human and all make mistakes at time.

I don’t know, but there will be close scrutiny of all LP (and other party) ministers to see where they were educated and where they currently educate their children because if this decision.
